📕Story Background
The residents of a small town have been experiencing a whole lot of troubles lately. Not only is the crime rate high, but the unemployment rate is soaring, and to make matters worse, the workers of the bus company are on strike due to their low wages. Everything seems to be in chaos, and to add insult to injury, the ever-helpful Mrs. Blake is murdered! The police immediately detained three suspects at the scene:
Philip the tramp, Thomas the bank clerk, and Max the florist.
Philip's confession was as follows: “I was skulking down the street, looking for something to eat, when I suddenly heard a woman screaming. I ran around the corner and saw Mrs. Black lying on the ground and Thomas standing over her. As soon as he saw me, he immediately pulled out and ran. So I called the police.”
Here's what Thomas said, “I was on the bus, going to meet some friends for a poker game at the club I always go to. Just as I got off the bus, I heard a scream from someone around the corner. I rushed over and saw that Philip was stabbing Mrs. Buzek with a knife. I tried to grab him, but he ran away. So I called the police.”
Max's confession said, “I was about to move the outdoor greenery back indoors when I heard a woman's shrill screams from around the corner, and when I rushed over to check it out, I saw that Phillip and Thomas were confronting each other, and Mrs. Bleeker was lying on the ground.”
Based on the confession, the police soon discovered who the real murderer was and arrested him.

----- Previous answer (The Vase That Went Missing) -------
The person who lied is C - Julie.
Julie says she is the first guest to arrive and also claims to have never gone out. However, when she went out to get her coat, it was at the top of the coat rack, whereas if she was really the first guest, her coat would have been at the innermost end of the rack.
