More benefits, more surprises
🎪 If it is not for this, our circus could keep travelling🎪
📕Story Background
A circus arrived in town, attracting crowds to their performances. Among the acts, the one featuring the animal trainer, Latte, and his tiger was the most beloved. Latte and his girlfriend, the blonde beauty Mary, soon became well-known figures.
One early morning, a sudden scream echoed through the circus tent. People rushed to the scene and found Latte lying face-down on a haystack, a large pool of dried blood visible on his lower back where a sharp ice pick was embedded. Beside him, Mary, still in her costume, was hiding her face and whispering in tears.
The police arrived promptly. After examining Latte's body, the coroner informed Officer Murphy,
"He's been dead for approximately seven to eight hours. Meaning the murder occurred in the middle of the night."
Murphy turned to Mary and said, "Please accept our condolences. Oh, I'm sorry, is that blood on your sleeve?"
Mary turned the cuff of her costume, revealing a long bloodstain.
"Hmm," she glanced at it, "I must have brushed against him just now."
Murphy inquired, "Do you have any idea who might have killed him?"
"No..." she replied, "but perhaps it was Bob from the casino. Latte owed him a significant amount of money."
Murphy then questioned Bob, who admitted that Latte owed him around $15,000 but swore he hadn't seen Latte in two days.
Then, Murphy quickly identified the culprit. Do you know who the criminal is? What was Murphy's basis for determining the murderer?
(This story is absolutely fictional. Any inconsistencies with common sense work for the plot)
🔍Known Clues
- The murderer is confirmed to be either Mary or Bob.

----- Previous answer (Professor You Are on My Way) -------
Jerry entered the dark room to turn on the light without tripping over the professor's body lying across the doorway, indicating he was already aware of its presence. This shows that he lied to Poirot, proving he was the murderer.
