📕Story Background
In a small town, a jeweler named John acquired a priceless necklace adorned with numerous gemstones. He kept this necklace in a locked metal jewelry box, which was also sealed with a sticker. He wouldn't easily show it to anyone unless they were close friends or experts in the field.
One day, four wealthy merchants, A, B, C, and D, who frequently visited the jewelry store, came by out of admiration for John's collection. John opened the treasure box and let them admire the necklace. After everyone had a good look, John took a sticker, applied glue to it, resealed the treasure box, and then accompanied A, B, C, and D to the living room for casual conversation.
During their chat, John noticed that all four of them had issues with their fingers:
A's index finger was inflamed and coated with gentian violet (a purple portion);
B's thumb was bitten by a venomous insect and coated with iodine;
C's thumb was scratched and coated with mercurochrome (a red portion);
D's pinky was bruised and sanitized with hydrogen peroxide.
All four of them went to the bathroom during the conversation. When the conversation was at its peak, John's friend Lind came to visit and also wanted to see the necklace. John took Lind to the treasure room, tore off the newly glued wet sticker, and found that the necklace in the box was gone.
Lind asked for clarification and learned that the thief was one of the four merchants, A, B, C, or D. After returning to the living room, Lind observed that one of the four had a finger that had turned bluish-black and pointed at him, saying, "You're the one who stole the necklace!"
Do you know who the thief is? What is Lind's basis for his accusation?
(This story is absolutely fictional. Any inconsistencies with common sense work for the plot)

----- Previous answer (A Sip in the Dark) -------
The murderer must have used something to carry the poison, and the container for the poison has not been discarded yet. Therefore, by examining the items brought by the other two people at the table, one can identify the murderer. Only Mr. Pierre's gold fountain pen could have been used to hold the poison. It turns out that to conceal it, the murderer hid the poison in the ink reservoir of the gold fountain pen and, taking advantage of the power outage, injected the poison into the victim's cup.
