GB Season Finale: 3/3 or Nothing

As this season of Glorious Battle approaches its end, the matchmaking gods were definitely not kind to our alliance or faction. Facing a far stronger opponent under the Longreach faction, we've had little success in our campaign. Even with a seemingly helpful NAP with Tempest, we've not been able to push much and we definitely won't be the ones sitting in the Glorious City when the event ends.

But we're not going to let it end without 1 last run at it!

And that being said, we've declared on 3 of Longreach's buildings only 1 day before the event ends. If we're able to pull this off, we would have successfully blocked Longreach from having access to the Glorious City and, if we can't have it, we're at least not letting RoD have it either... I mean Longreach,😅obviously.

On a more "faction personal" side, if we win these fights, we should also jump from 3rd, I mean last, to 2nd. And 2nd sounds a lot better than last, doesn't it?

As we approach "go time" with under 1 minute before we race, Longreach is already marching towards their defense points.

I'm not sure where to march and with no specific assignment, I just use a classic SoW strategy called "top to bottom", so I send my march to the Depot at the top.

The Military City is probably the grand prize, but I'm keeping that for later. I'm thinking if we take their Depot and Trading Post first, surely their morale will suffer. Even if they don't know it, somewhere in the back of their heads they'll know the losing streak has started. And when they're at their most vulnerable, from a mindset perspective, we move in for the big prize: the Military City and their access to the Glorious City!

On the flip side, if we take all but 1 objective, it's pretty clear where all their forces will be going, so it's more of a double edged sword than a master plan.

And as usual, just after I send my march, I see the Discord post saying we should prioritize the Military City.😅

Oh well... I'll be there in a few minutes, after I finish my job "top to bottom".

But it seems I'm not the only one going there. As soon as the gravy train starts rolling, there are marches heading towards all 3 objectives. We're either about to steamroll Longreach or their big accounts are going to feast on the elimination points we're bringing to their doorstep.

My 1st encounter is somewhat of a mirror match, but I get destroyed. I'm losing almost double what I'm killing. While that's normally not good, compared to what I've seen in my inbox this GB... this wasn't so bad.

But overall we're making good progress and we want to press our advantage, so we're starting to use our long cooldowns. Needless to say, if we don't use them here, I doubt there will be another opportunity.

And if we deny Longreach access to Center, even if they declare tomorrow and get their access back, they won't have time to declare again on Center before the event ends.

In other words... what I'm trying to say is: It's all or nothing tonight!🙂🙃

And barely 15 minutes in, I can't believe how well this is going for us. We've flipped all 3 objectives to around 50%. If we continue holding this strong, we could win this fight before long. And wouldn't that make for a fitting end to a difficult season?

But while we're mostly winning on our 3 fronts and making good progress, Tempest is having difficulties with their fights against Longreach. I suspect Longreach is diverting more of their forces to contest the entry point from Tempest and have mostly forsaken the top side of the map, where we're gaining momentum.

The Depot falls fast. At some point we have over 100 marches garrisoned there without any opposition, so it falls 1st.

It's not long before we take the Military City too, and I was not expecting this to fall before the Merchant City, but who am I to complain now?

We've achieved most of our goal. If we can also get their Merchant City, it's 3/3 and 100% objective achieved for us.

On my 2nd fight I get a rather similar mirror match... but not really, because Ayrmidon is not an easy commander to fight against and the adviser difference is also clear.

It's no longer a "sacrifice 2 troops to kill 1", now it's more like "I lost 274k troops and only killed 78k", so closer to the 4 of mine dead to kill a single enemy type of situation. This is turning out like a normal report from GB.

But it doesn't matter. My march is not alone. We're sending an entire faction to fight for this final objective and it doesn't last much longer.

Even with their strongest account inside, our final objective is achieved and we're coming out of this final battlefield with 3/3 objectives done.

And that just goes to show you that this is a team game after all. A single account cannot carry an entire event, but an entire faction showing up at the right time can absolutely overwhelm even the strongest opponent.

Having said that, the following day the curtain falls on this entire Glorious Battle season and it's time for me to do a quick recap.

1st of all, I have to admit my account improvements have made a noticeable difference in my reports. I've gone from killing absolutely nothing to maybe killing things under the right circumstances, lol.

And while that is not a small task in what is probably the 2nd most whale-fest event in this entire game, it just means I need to keep pushing my account forward.

My path to Rally Lead is halfway done and I'm already seeing the shortcomings of my account and what I'll have to push after AC starts. Following this GB experience, my new objective is to get the account into a nice, desired form before the end of the year.

But so far I've unlocked another album set, giving my stats a tiny bump, I've gotten some Battle and Bravery Tokens for more badges and I'm finally starting to feel like I'm part of this event.

With the Wheel being my final prize for the season, I'm not even counting on the personal rewards from the Elimination and Healing rankings.

But rest assured, in the 4-5 months before the next GB Season comes around, my account will have gone from Rally Lead trainee to a truly Rally Lead worthy state.

And next season, I'll be much better prepared.
