🪙 What a COINcidental slip we have right? Smart you chose this to steal. 🪙

📕Story Background
In the 1960s, at the historic Hotel, a cleaner was quietly polishing the internal telephone in the lobby late at night. Suddenly, the sharp sound of shattering glass echoed through the hall, followed immediately by a loud alarm. In the lobby was a display cabinet celebrating the hotel’s 50th anniversary. Inside it were precious artifacts: the hotel's very first menu, old room-price lists, valuable coins and stamps, historic photographs, and an autograph from the hotel's first distinguished guest.
The night manager and several staff quickly arrived, only to discover that a rare, valuable coin had vanished. Noticing only three guests nearby, the manager politely but firmly requested them to stay until the police arrived. When the police came, the manager reported clearly:
- Miss Oakley was seated comfortably in an armchair, reading. She stated she had just finished a work dinner. When asked to stay, she cooperated fully and calmly took out a book from her briefcase to read.
- Mr. Briar explained he had just left his room to pick up some aspirin at the front desk, as his wife had a headache. While waiting, he made a call to his wife from the lobby's pay phone. The manager overheard him calmly reassuring his wife to wait patiently.
- Mr. Greenleaf, rather scruffy and clearly intoxicated, had just exited the hotel bar, where the bartender had refused him any more drinks. He had been found lingering by the elevator, where he accidentally pinched his finger in the elevator buttons.
“The thief surely didn't expect the alarm,” said the manager anxiously. “Perhaps he's already escaped and we’ve lost him.”
“No,” said the police officer confidently, “The suspect is standing right here among you! Stop hiding, I know who you are and where you hide the stolen coin!!!”
Who is the true suspect, and why was the police officer certain?
(This story is absolutely fictional. Any inconsistencies with common sense work for the plot)

----- Previous answer (Kent's Arctic Rescue) -------
There is no sunlight during Arctic winters.
Kent claimed this happened "just before Christmas," during the Arctic winter when the region experiences polar night, months of continuous darkness. It would have been impossible for him to start a fire using sunlight and a magnifying glass, thus exposing his story as a fabrication.
