🐻‍❄ 🚩 I understand you try to be pretentious, but this just too fake 🚩🐻‍❄

📕Story Background

On Christmas night, Kent invited Miss Moses, a charming, lively, and intelligent woman he'd recently met to dinner at a fine restaurant. Kent greatly admired her, but as they talked, he sensed her growing disinterest. Shortly afterward, they parted ways. Disappointed, Kent wandered the streets alone until he ran into Detective Rock.

Rock noticed Kent's gloomy expression and asked what had happened. Kent explained about his dinner with Miss Moses. "What did you talk about at dinner?" Rock asked curiously.

"I told her a thrilling story about something I experienced last year, just before Christmas," Kent replied eagerly. "I was traveling to an Arctic weather observation station on a special Navy mission with Captain Helding. It was an honorable assignment that many desired but few received. Unfortunately, during the mission, Captain Helding fell suddenly and broke his thigh bone severely. I quickly treated and bandaged his injury.

"Ten minutes later, an even worse disaster occurred: the ice beneath our feet broke loose, and we drifted out to sea. The situation was dire, we could lose our lives at any moment. The bitter cold threatened to freeze us to death. With no matches left, I desperately used a magnifying glass to focus sunlight onto some paper placed on an iron box filled with kindling materials. Thankfully, I managed to ignite the fire and save our lives. Four hours later, we were rescued by a passing speedboat. People praised me as a brave hero for keeping calm in the face of danger."

Detective Rock laughed heartily after hearing this, "You're an awful liar, Kent! Miss Moses was being polite not to openly ridicule you."

Can you tell what flaw did Detective Rock spot in Kent’s heroic Arctic tale?

(This story is absolutely fictional. Any inconsistencies with common sense work for the plot)

🔍Known Clues

  1. A place like the Arctic can't really be compared to where we live. Many things are just totally different.
  2. Sounds logical, but if you know...you know.

----- Previous answer (The Golden Ear) -------

The pianist’s sensitive ears detected that the ticking sound from the grandfather clock was altered, muffled slightly or echoing differently, indicating someone was hiding directly in front of or beside the clock. Using this subtle auditory clue, he pinpointed the thief’s location accurately.
