📕Story Background

Blair, an intelligence agent from the Secret Intelligence Department, arrived in Hawaii on a mission. However, his assignment took a disastrous turn when he was drugged with sleeping pills, his fatal mistake was falling for a blonde beauty.

He had no idea how long he was unconscious, but when he awoke, he let out a sharp gasp. The woman was gone. The bed, the room, everything was different. Even the clothes on his body were unfamiliar pajamas. His instincts kicked in, and he leaped up, frantically searching for his belongings. But his clothes, his watch, everything was missing.

Just then, a voice crackled to life from a hidden speaker in the ceiling.

“Awake?”

Blair looked up, spotting surveillance cameras embedded in the ceiling.

“Who’s there?” he demanded.

“Relax, we’re keeping you alive. But don’t think about leaving this room anytime soon.”

“Where am I?”

“Somewhere.” The voice carried a mocking tone.

“Why am I being held here?”

“You are a very valuable guest. Our intelligence officer has been captured, and we’re negotiating a trade for you. An answer should come soon.”

Blair’s mind raced. Recently, Intelligence Headquarters had secretly arrested several enemy agents, but only three were significant enough to warrant an exchange: One from Canada, one from a secret base in New Zealand, and one from an agency in Malaysia.

So, where was he? Canada? New Zealand? Malaysia?

Blair examined his surroundings. The room was sparse, with basic living essentials, a washbasin, a commode in the corner, and a single small window on a high wall, secured with iron bars and fully boarded up. The fluorescent lights on the ceiling remained on at all times, and an air conditioner regulated the temperature, making it impossible to determine whether it was day or night.

Lying back on the bed, Blair stared at the boarded-up window, lost in thought. Then, his eyes widened. A gap!

A sliver of sunlight seeped through a tiny opening between the boards. A sudden realization struck him.

With precise aim, he grabbed a milk bottle from the bedside table and hurled it at the ceiling light. Crash! The fluorescent light shattered, plunging the room into darkness.

Now, in the pitch-black room, the only thing visible was the faint beam of sunlight shining through the window gap. He fixated on a small, bright spot on the floor where the sunlight landed. Then, as the minutes ticked by, he noticed something critical, the spot of light moved from left to right.

And in that moment, he knew exactly where he was.

Blair has just figured out which country he was kidnapped to based on the direction of the sunlight’s movement. Can you determine where he is?
