AC QGD vs WAU

The horns are blowing through the middle lands of Westeros. Armies coming from the east, the rich and nobles lands of kings, the Crowlands, stepping forth to capture the heart of the enemy ! Hearing their steps, preparing for defense are the armies of the Lannisters, prepping the Westerlands for the upcoming battle, they are steady waiting for their enemies to crash on their walls.

The Targaryens called the WAU alliance to fight for them but few answered the call and only 16 soldiers are through at the start of the battle. For the Lannisters, Queensguard was called and 33 of its soldiers came through to defend the Westerlands. The horns roared once more and the battle started, each and every soldier charging at the buildings on the field.

QGD start off really well, taking control of both outposts as well as the Tower of the Warrior while WAU are only able to conquer the Temple of the Mother. QGD’s Gray bear, PavelB and Waffelwombat reacted almost instantaneously to the sound of incoming battle and were the fastest to the buildings. This puts the Targaryens in a disadvantageous position as the Lannisters now control the field. 

Only a few minutes after the first capture, LordLionel hits the only WAU controlled building : the Temple of the Mother and takes full ownership of it. LordLionel is one of the hardest hitters for QGD, a quick cavalry attack capable of completely changing the tides of battle. As of now, WAU have yet to answer to the dominance of QGD who even allow themselves to change up the defender of the temple in order to keep their hard hitter Lionel free. 

AND BOOM ! Finally, WAU react, few minutes after the change at the Temple IppokratisGR attacks the Targaryen outpost and steals it from WaffelWombat, turning despair into small hopes, perhaps this is the start of their counterattack on QGD buildings ? Annnnnnd it isn’t… Seconds only after taking the buildings and bringing themselves back into the game, WAU throw themselves under the bus, they left the Targaryen outpost empty long enough that Xyrox got the control of it. Maybe it was a failed maneuver meant to change the main defender of the building, only they know but a misunderstanding clearly happened there and patience is growing thin within their ranks. 

The ports open up and WAU take this opportunity to get their head back into the battle. DCHASEII captures it faster than any QGD player making sure that at least one Targaryen building is controlled by his alliance, all hope is not lost yet for WAU ! QGD on the other hand take the Lannister port easily before WAU are able to reach it. For now they are completely dominating the battlefield. The Lannisters are satisfied with their représentants while the QGD soldiers are all calm and composed, focused so the situation doesn’t change, for now, but calm is usually never a good way to prepare for a storm.

And loyal to that spirit, LordLionel attacked the Targaryen port as soon as the shield surrounding it dropped, conquering it for the Lannister side in one swift attack. 

Backed into a corner and with nothing else they hadn’t tried, IppokratisGR attacked the Temple of the Mother and was able to conquer it for WAU. It was the most loosely defended QGD building hence the attack made sense and IppokratisGR was strong enough to make it matter. But while WAU was busy reinforcing the Temple after taking it, Gohar I took Casterly Rock for QGD.

The strongholds opened up and Igris Red2 took control of the Targaryen stronghold, no WAU player even tried taking it. Thinking they wouldn’t move, QGD got complacent and didn’t hurry to take the Lannister stronghold which allowed for Sir Ender to capture it first. Worse even, Ritter Wolf even conquered the Lannister outpost from QGD, spreading shock and freezing the soldiers in their tracks. Now WAU controls 3 buildings on the map and what was a dominant display from QGD is turning into very balanced battle, scary sights for the Lannister side. 

Following up on their precedent attacks, david fon mk captured the Targaryen outpost from Xyrox, one of QGD’s strongest generals. Now, at every sound of footsteps, every bell ringing, every fight announced, QGD is afraid, afraid they will lose, something they hadn’t felt throughout this war for the Westerlands. Thankfully for them, another attack came for the Targaryen stronghold and their players were able to hold down the building and keep the attacker out. Another QGD player lightened the fear in his soldiers’ eyes : ShmooVe ! He took back the Lannister stronghold from WAU, turning the map control from 5 (QGD) - 4 (WAU) to 6 (QGD) - 3 (WAU), a much more favorable result. 

Finally, it was time for this war to end and the mines opened up. Both mines were taken by QGD soldiers the Targaryen mine by Xyrox and the Lannister mine by LordLionel. They were both swiftly reinforced to keep them and get the most out of them.

Some more fights happened at the Lannister outpost between QGD soldiers and WAU players but none of them mattered for the end result : QGD won ! A complete win for QGD 83 thousand points to only 20 thousand for their Targaryen enemy WAU. They held control of the map for the entire battle, not once losing dominance in terms of buildings. Though they once lost the momentum of the game and went through a real scare, WAU were never actually capable of turning the tables enough to put QGD in real danger. First game of AC is a win for QGD, who are starting their season well, while WAU will need to work on being more aggressive if they want to win those types of matches because they can.
