As is the case in every series, every story, every game, and every alliance, there’s always that one rival you keep running into. The one you face in every championship and every ranked match. And somehow, they’re always just a bit stronger. It's often close enough that you can almost taste the win, but never quite reach it.
That’s exactly how this matchup feels going into N0X vs RRH. We’ve faced them in most top tier events and, while our coordination and planning are usually better, their accounts tend to smoke ours. Their coordination isn’t far behind either, which makes the gap feel even worse.
So no miracles expected tonight. But we want to keep the UC dream alive, and that means we go in giving it everything.

As the match is about to start, one thing immediately stands out. And that's participation. RRH bring in 95 players, while we’re sitting at only 85. That’s not a great look to start with.

N0X prides itself on organization and consistency, and dropping below 90 accounts contradicts that. It makes you wonder if some people already gave up on this match before it even started. That kind of mindset loses games before they even begin. Still, no point making up scenarios in my head, we play the game we have in front of us.

Stage one starts… mixed feelings. Personally, I'm doing amazing, I finally win my first race of the season. But for the alliance, it’s not that good. We only get one building out of four. Mine, obviously 😏

I’m too busy enjoying the moment to even understand the voices on Discord saying “Open Inf, OPEN INF!”.

I’m sitting there, feeling like a champion, waiting for the swap timer, completely blocking any background noise… until it hits me. Wait. That call might actually be for me?

Panic hits! I race through the UI and can’t find the right icon to click. By the time I react, the slow march bounces. I do manage to fix it, open the right troop types, disband, and we get a strong account inside, but completely uncoordinated and RRH intercepts our failed swap without breaking a sweat.
Not the start we wanted. Still, we move on. Before Ports open, we line up rallies on Mother and actually take it cleanly. Confidence goes up. Maybe this is still playable.

A few seconds later, second rally wave, we flip Warrior too. Now we’re talking. 50-50 split in Phase 1, but with both key objectives under N0X control. That’s the strong start I'm used to.

Then Phase 2 opens… and everything goes downhill.
We lose both Port races. We lose Mother. We lose Warrior. In the span of a minute, we go from superior map control to nothing. With no buildings and no buffs, morale is going down. And losing the early buffs is not going to make this easy for us, especially playing a stronger opponent like RRH.

Phase 3 is up, Casterly Rock opens and we lose the race, but we intercept a weak swap and this is the beacon of light we need , the flame to keep this match alive in our hearts. Overall, we're falling behind, in points, points per minute, buffs, but a significant win like this could be the turning point of the game.
That’s the moment I kind of think to myself: We’re in trouble.
But Phase 3 starts and we catch a break with Casterly Rock. We lose the race, but we catch a weak swap and take CR. It’s a small win, but it matters. It's something blue on the map. Something that says we’re still in the game. Even if the scoreboard says otherwise.

With limited map presence, we commit hard to single targets. A few good rallies, focus all our "fire" in a two seconds window, and we manage to take Warrior. That’s actually big for us. It breaks their combo of buffs and gives us a bit of breathing room.
With Warrior and an Outpost on our side, the buffs are now spread somewhat equally. Points are still within reach. It’s not pretty, but it’s not over either.

We end up trading Warrior for Mother unintentionally while Phase 4 begins, and we secure both Strongholds. On paper, that looks decent, but the score tells a different story as RRH is pulling further away from us.
We’re past the first quarter and already significantly behind. The map looks competitive, but the game state isn’t.

As the match drags on, we just can’t hold anything for long. We take, we lose, we trade, but nothing remains blue for long. Mother falls again. We take Warrior, but lose Casterly Rock. RRH is starting to dominate the map.
And with our current building mix, we’re sitting on zero buffs again. That’s a bad place to be for us.

Mid game hits and RRH wipes the last building we were holding. Now they have full map control.
- They brought more players.✔
- They had more starting points.✔
- They have stronger accounts.✔
- They control the map and have stacked all the buffs.✔
Now they’re sitting at almost double our score.

At this point, if I were shotcalling, I’d be thinking about calling it. Good thing I’m not, 'cause that's not an easy call to make.
N0X leadership is rather quiet, instructions are not as frequent, but the game is not called and we keep going.
It feels like I'm a Queen musical. At least that's what's singing in my head right about now.

We’ve probably rallied most of their holders by now with little success. So the only real play left to play is the Mines. One last gamble.
If we take both mines, they can only rally one if they want to kick us, we can bubble correctly... maybe force awkward rally timings for RRH... there’s a slim chance, but it's hope! Not a lot of hope, but something to hold on to. Enough to justify the outrageous healing costs.
I check my reports. One win out of the last six. That says everything, and it's not good news.

And then we get there. Phase 6. Mines about to open... This is it. Last chance. Last chance to save face, or at least salvage some pride. Everything leads into this moment.
Mines open… and we win both races. For a split second hope washes over us again. The hype kicks in, Discord lights up. This is it! This is how we get back in the game!
And then… we lose both. Almost instantly.
We take them clean, but we just can’t hold. Reinforcements are late and RRH takes both mines before we can stabilize.
That’s the moment. A long silence follows. Everyone just knows it. The game's over.
They lock both mines down immediately, with biggest accounts inside, fully reinforced, no counerplay available for us.
We still have rally speeds, so we send a wave on one of the mines. Not because we believe we can take it, but because there’s no point ending the game with bugles in our pockets. They even bubble it. Not because they need to, just because they can. At this point it feels more like a flex than a defense.
Second wave goes in, but without speeds the timing is off. Easy to reinforce between our hits. We do decent damage, but it's not enough. That was the last play. And it wasn't enough.
We never officially call it, but the game is done.
We spend the last minutes scraping whatever points we can from their hive, pushing to 40k for the milestone rewards.
No comeback this time. No saving grace against what RRH brought into this match. Just a slow fade to the end.

Final score is rough. I didn’t expect to win, but seeing RRH push past 110k is not easy on the eyes.

This means we drop points early in the season, and that UC path just got a lot tighter. One loss is usually inevitable later on against the real monster alliances, so burning one here hurts more than it should.
It’s not even the fact that we lost. It’s more how bad we lost. We knew we were going to be outmatched, but we played a very weak game.
With our ranking dropping, I'd expect the next match should be easier. Now we just need to shake this off and make sure this doesn’t happen again.
