🌳 O tragic stories, tales and lies, all in this Deadman's Creek 🌳

📕Story Background
Famed detective Poirot joined a tour group exploring the vast American prairies. Along the way, their bus passed a murky, foul-smelling river. The tour guide pointed toward it and said, “This river is nicknamed Deadman’s Creek. There’s a tragic story behind it…”
Years ago, a renowned local doctor named Thomas was seeing a patient when a neighbor, Nick, burst into the clinic in a panic. According to Nick, there had just been a botched bank robbery nearby. A shootout had broken out between police and the criminal. Caught in chaos, Nick claimed he was mistaken for the robber. Fearing wrongful arrest, he begged Dr. Thomas to help him hide.
Trusting Nick’s innocence, Dr. Thomas handed him a six-foot-long hollow rubber tube with a one-inch diameter. “Hide in the river and use this to breathe,” he instructed, “I’ll go distract the police.”
Nick took the tube and dove into the river to hide underwater. But when Dr. Thomas returned shortly after, he was horrified to find Nick had drowned. The doctor assumed panic had overwhelmed him, leading to his tragic death.
Just then, Poirot interrupted the guide’s tale.
“No, monsieur,” he said firmly. “Nick was murdered.”
Why did detective Poirot say that?
(This story is absolutely fictional. Any inconsistencies with common sense work for the plot)

Correct Answer: He used a vacuum cleaner to seal the door from outside
Okamoto waited until the victim fell asleep, then partially taped the door from the inside. After turning on the gas, he exited, shut the door, and used his vacuum cleaner to suction the remaining tape onto the doorframe through the gap—sealing it shut from the outside. This clever trick created the illusion of a sealed-room suicide.
