📺 Oh no the power outrage, everything went down. 📺

📕Story Background

It was past midnight when a sudden gunshot shattered the quiet of the suburban neighborhood.

Police Chief Ross sprang from his chair, grabbed his flashlight, and rushed outside. The echo of the gunfire had come from the direction of Harry’s apartment — not far from his own.

As Ross arrived, he nearly collided with Harry at the gate.

Tony’s been shot!” Harry shouted, panic on his face.

Ross followed him into the house. The room was pitch black, the air thick with the smell of gunpowder. Harry’s voice trembled as he explained:

“Tony was visiting me tonight. We were watching TV together when the lights suddenly went out. I was just about to check the fuse when the front door burst open. Someone rushed in and fired two shots at Tony — then vanished into the dark!”

Ross turned his flashlight toward the body. Tony lay sprawled on the floor, a dark stain spreading across his shirt. He was dead. The police chief went to the garage and found the power breaker had been pulled down. He flipped it back up. Instantly, the apartment lights came on.

The scene was eerily silent — not even the faint buzz of the TV.

The next morning, the famed detective Locke arrived to assist. After listening to Ross’s report, he asked:

“When you turned the power back on, what did you hear?”

Ross thought for a moment. “Nothing. It was completely silent.”

Locke nodded slowly,

“That’s the problem. If Harry’s story were true, the house wouldn’t have been silent. Arrest him — he’s lying.”

Do you know why Detective Locke made that conclusion? Any crucial clue?

(This story is absolutely fictional. Any inconsistencies with common sense work for the plot)

Correct Answer: The milk cup still upright

If Mary had truly been knocked down just as she entered the room, the milk she was holding would have spilled onto the floor — it couldn’t possibly still be sitting neatly on the bedside table.
