📕Story Background

The "Eden Dome" is a sealed, airtight research biodome designed to simulate a perfect tropical ecosystem on Mars. It is currently located in a remote desert in Arizona.

At 2:00 AM, the facility's alarm triggered. The "Lunar Orchid," a priceless genetically modified flower, was stolen from the central planter. The thief bypassed the external locks, suggesting it was an inside job.

Police soon arrived at the scene, and gathered the three night-shift employees. They were the only humans inside the airtight facility.

Sarah (The Security Guard): "I was in the security booth at the front entrance. I was reviewing the camera feeds for the parking lot because I thought I saw a coyote. I never left the booth, just wanna figure this out."

Leo (The Intern): "I was doing my rounds in the Tropical Sector. It's a sealed glass room packed with thousands of broad-leaf jungle plants. I spent about 20 minutes in there just taking notes. honestly, it felt amazing, and the air was so fresh and rich with oxygen from all those plants that it woke me right up!"

Dr. Aris (The Botanist): "I was in the lab basement preparing nutrient solutions. I was wearing my noise-canceling headphones, so I didn't hear the alarm go off until the red lights started flashing."

Officers at the scene examined the clues👇 and combined them with the testimonies from three suspects. Soon located the most possible thief.

The Encyclopedia Entry (Plant Metabolism): A page from a biology textbook found on a desk reads: "Photosynthesis (the process where plants absorb CO2 and release Oxygen) is a light-dependent reaction. It cannot occur without a light source. Conversely, Cellular Respiration (where plants absorb Oxygen and release CO2) occurs continuously, day and night"

Correct Answer: Chloe (The Business Partner)

The Deduction: Chloe claimed she was trapped inside the theater because the power went out and the electronic door wouldn't open.

However, the safety manual (Clue 3) tells us the doors are "Fail-Safe."

In the real world (and this story), electronic doors on buildings are legally required to unlock when power is lost so people don't burn to death in a fire.

• If the power went out, the theater door would have popped open.
• Chloe lied about being locked in to create a fake alibi. She used the 5 minutes of darkness to rob the safe.
