🔥 A devastating fire engulfed the poor district... only because of someone 🔥

📕Story Background
A devastating fire swept through the wooden-house district of a quiet English town.
Many residents were injured, and dozens were left homeless. In the charred ruins, grief quickly turned to anger — everyone wanted the arsonist caught.
Detective Jorles was assigned to investigate the case. But when he arrived, the scene was nothing but blackened ash. Any trace of how the blaze had started had been consumed by the inferno itself.
After several interviews, one name repeatedly surfaced: Mrs. Delia, resident of House No. 25 — the very home where the fire had first erupted. When Jorles finally found her, she was weeping uncontrollably. Her husband and young son had both perished in the flames.
Once Delia had calmed enough to speak, Jorles asked her to describe what happened that night.
“My husband and I attended a friend’s party,” she said, voice trembling. “It was very late when we returned. Our boy said he was hungry, so I went into the kitchen to fry him a steak.
Just as it was nearly done, I heard him cry out loudly. I dropped everything and ran to the living room. He’d cut his hand on a piece of glass. My husband came running too and took him to the bathroom to wash and bandage it.
I—I forgot to turn off the gas stove. When I came back, flames were already climbing up the oil in the pan…”
Detective Jorles frowned. “A small pan fire should be easy to put out,” he said carefully.
Delia buried her face in her hands.
“I know… but I panicked. I grabbed the nearest bucket and threw it over the flames. But—God help me—it was a bucket of oil! The fire exploded. I had no time to warn my husband or son…”
Jorles stared at her for a long moment. Then, quietly but firmly, he said,
“Mrs. Delia, I’m afraid you’ll have to come with me to the station.”
She looked up in shock. “W-why? You don’t think I—?”
Jorles sighed. “Because your story doesn’t add up.”

Correct Answer: They were too deep heavy
Although Professor Watanabe was a small, slender man, the footprints found in the snow were exceptionally deep. This detail made the inspector realize the truth — Watanabe must have killed Yoko elsewhere, most likely at his own home, and then carried her body to the dormitory before calling the police. The added weight of the body caused his footprints in the snow to sink much deeper than they normally would.
