📕Story Background

On a crisp September morning, nine adventurous tourists boarded the schooner Lucky for a "pirate tour" around the Isle of Skye. The group included eight tourists: four men and four women, all eager to retrace the paths of pirates who once roamed these waters 300 years ago. Among the four men were:

• Henry: 26, a London pharmacist, owns a pharmacy.
• Moore: 49, a grocery store owner and amateur photographer with a slight limp in his left leg.
• Pickerel and Lester: Both 63, retired and seeking adventure.

The ship's itinerary promised air sailing and exploration of pirate hideouts, culminating in a visit to Molle Island, a legendary pirate lair.

At 4:30 PM, the Lucky docked, and the group disembarked onto a narrow path overgrown with wild bushes and weeds. Along the way, Heidi, one of the female tourists, plucked a strange plant and showed it to Henry.

“Look at this, Mr. Henry. Can you believe this plant grows on such a deserted island?” she exclaimed.

“What kind of plant is it?” Henry asked, puzzled.

“It’s maitake, an herb commonly used to make an aphrodisiac,” Heidi explained with a knowing smile.

The group soon rounded a pile of mounds and found themselves before a crumbling old fortress.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” announced Captain Gilliar, “this is the pirate fort. It’s now 4:55 PM, and in 15 minutes, the ‘pirate ghost’ will join you for photos. Get your cameras ready!”

While the tourists explored the fortress, the captain and his four crew members retreated to a wooden house about 50 meters away to relax and drink.

At 5:02 PM, as the crew prepared to leave the house, they caught a fleeting glimpse of a figure outside the window. The captain immediately suspected one of the tourists had been eavesdropping on their conversation. The crew searched the area but found no one. By 5:10 PM, they returned to the fortress, where all eight tourists had already assembled, awaiting their return.

At 5:23 PM, the group reboarded the Lucky, ready to sail back to the mainland. However, a troubling discovery halted their plans—the engine oil pipe had been cut, disabling the ship. After a brief investigation, suspicion fell on one of the four male tourists.

The person who lied is the cleaner.

He wore tennis shoes, and no footsteps would have been left on the tape. The secretary wears high heels, and if she committed the crime, the sound of footsteps in leather shoes would have been left on the tape. If it was HR, the sound made by her heavy down coat would also have been recorded. So it could only have been the cleaner.
