More benefits, more surprises
It was a cold day of autumn when the third round of Siege of Winterfell was bestowed upon BaN by the Old Gods. The middle of the season has arrived for the favourites to win the event, as they were currently ranked first without any doubt, they were challengers to win it all. They shared a history of incredible feats in SoW, the competition where they shone brightly.
It was a competition where strategic minds would triumph over strength, but for BaN, they were blessed to have both at their disposal. These were all Ashun's thoughts, an aspiring warrior, who one day hoped to reach as high as his mentors and leaders from within the alliance. He was far from it, but he was competitive enough to pursue it, no matter what harsh path it took him to reach it.
Ashun was convinced that this season was going to once again be won by his alliance, just as the previous, but it was all going to come round by round, each match was a testament to their strength and contest for the top position that they so dearly desired. Everyone in the alliance seemed to be pushed by a similar desire to win, the feelings of competitiveness were off the charts as the third round's opponents were about to be revealed.
The opponents for this round were Av0, a rival alliance of BaN, which they duel with every occasion they get. They have not had the chance to meet in Siege of Winterfell until now, only in other events, and every time, BaN came out on top. Seeing them, Ashun hoped that the same would be true for Siege of Winterfell. He did not want BaN to take them easy because of previous victories over them, instead, he wished that BaN took every match with the utmost seriosity.
The BaN leadership seemed to share the same mindset as Ashun, Av0 being rivals motivated them to push for presence against them and for the plans to reviewed once more in order to adapt. MooON was the leader of the event during the fights, and before them, as she prepared everything very carefully, not wanting to leave out any potential details to the strategy that could affect them later on.
''Ganicus is the fighter we have to be wary of. Do not give him a chance to attack you, he is very dangerous to do a 1v1 with, always fight him in groups and pincer him down quickly!'' MooON instructed her warriors. Everyone seemed to understand her reasoning, after all, Ganicus' fame exceeded him, he was one of the most proficient fighters in Westeros, a lot of alliances and Kingdoms feared him, it was only natural to take him with utmost care, they all thought.
''We will have our 3 teams as usual, only the members I adjusted to suit the approach from within the round better.'' MooON added, finalising their strategy, which was to always split forces on both sides of the map, whilst having a team ready to fight for Winterfell resources.
With the plans all ready, everyone motivated and eager to fight, it was time for them to go towards the battlefield, where Av0 awaited them. Ashun was boiling with anticipation, his pulse quickening as they nearer and nearer to the frozen battlefield. Within just mere 30 minutes, everyone had arrived, and they were ready to jump into action.
At a first glance, the Av0 army looked powerful but with fewer fighters as anticipated, having brought only 77 against BaN's 95, it was a massive surprise, but it did not take anything from how BaN wished to approach the round. There was no underestimation going to happen, just as the leadership and Ashun wanted. ''Showing mercy to an enemy and leaving openings for them is a sign of disrespect'', was the thought that Ashun had right before the gates opened.
As the gates to the battlefield opened, everyone hurried to their assigned positions, eager to fight and give it their best, but it was not long until that was ruined. Ashun noticed something odd in the distance: Av0 was not leaving their base. This came off as a big surprise, but he and everyone else kept marching on, as they could at least notice few scarce marches showing up in random strategic points, a chance to gain eliminations.
Seeing this, MooON was disheartened at the enemy ''Let's finish this quickly, I do not want to underestimate them, but it seems they are not here to fight, push towards their spawn point and don't let them out.'' she added as a first and final call during the fight. Every fighter of BaN quickly mobilised to do exactly that and secure the victory. Ashun was at a loss of words, his high anticipation did not pay off, he was frustrated seeing they came to the battlefield, only to not fight.
But in the end, there was nothing anyone in BaN could do, the decision to not fight was Av0's alone, no one could change it even if they so desired. This victory may have been easy and not fought for, but it was not less important than the others. It was a victory that served for BaN to be kept on the top spot, the spot which they will not give up until they have won everything there is to win this season. There were 3 more rounds to fight in, it will be tough to keep their winning ways, but Ashun believed they could do it.
