The Battle for Ages

Gather round my degenerate friends as I take you on a tale of intrigue. Just kidding, it is Champion City Siege thus it is time to slaughter my troops for your entertainment. I was in a new land visiting some new friends. Being on a server with someone from my alliance definitely has its perks. We also managed to match with a couple other members from FFS and my partner in shenanigans Vegeta. We would be fighting for Ages at a very early hour for me, but I was curious how this match would be.

We all had gotten invites from the mighty warrior Ytu In but knew that they would be a large alliance. Not ideal for easy battle diamonds. I don’t think any of us wanted to fight to get into rallies, fight to get in the castle and pray our troops would enter the battle. Heck, it remained to be seen if there would be anyone to even fight him lol.

Discussions were long as all of us weighed the pros and cons of joining the dominant alliance. None of us were really trying to be a rally lead, we need troops for playoffs, glorious battle will start before we know it and yall know Alliance Conquest won’t be too far behind. I usually know where I will be fairly early but this time, we really took it down to the wire. We ended up staying as a small group in a shell alliance. Two of our ranks were brave enough to assume the position of rally lead. It made me nervous, was this an omen of how the match would play. I just need 1,500,000 eliminations for max blood diamonds.  If I could get in and out, it may not be so bad.

As I glanced around the battlefield, I saw some from RRH, MBL, LEG and even BaN. It was actually quite crowded as our small group squished in where we could. I even brought in Skeeter. Not because she was going to get any battle diamonds, but because her dragons may be helpful in a small group versus a certified whale.

Ytu In, took the castles and was reinforced pretty quickly. I love watching all the pretty marches rushing about on the screen. As I was being hypnotized by the dance of colors on the screen, I had almost missed the rallies from Maiae and Neo Strider lol.

Maiae hit first. I was so happy we got a battle report. Whale problems am I right? Lol 😂

Neo Strider hit next…

I knew that this would be a costly match, I was laser focused on those blood diamonds. Troops I can rebuild but there are limited opportunities for those lovely blood red gems.

Within a few hits I got my points but I kept throwing in my sacrifices to make sure everyone in the group did too.

Maiae did get a couple wins in, a reminder of how far I have left to go lol

It didn’t take long before everyone had what they needed, and we stopped with the attacks. I hung out a bit, even after going back to FFS just to watch the dance of colors swaying back and forth.

There was no question about who the winner would be. Ytu In would hold the longest, followed by two from BaN.

However, due to the rules of Champion City Siege, an alliance can only hold one of the castles. So, the first three couldn’t take it despite technically winning. This left control of the castle to NAY.

When you really look at the time NAY held it, it reminds you that while traditionally a whale event, anyone can become conquerors in the right set of circumstances. Less than a full minute and does not even have to be consecutive. Lol

This was a chill and crowded match. I was pretty amazed at the amount of folks that turned to to kill their troops on Ytu In’s bows lol. I include myself in that, by the way lol. I have been in way emptier matches. It is nice to see so many enjoying what is one of my favorite events. I lost a decent amount, nothing that is needed right away so I was ok with the tradeoffs I made. It would be nice to one day see a more balanced match up. Maybe different maps based on ranges of personal scores. Even if nothing changed, I still enjoy the event.

It’s not just the battle diamonds, merit, battle and bravery tokens (they help tho lol), it is the strategy, making allies in an event where different folks are looking for different things.  Someone taking the castle needs reinforcements. The player wanting battle diamonds needs to get into fights stats be damned. What better solution than both sides joining forces, working together and achieving both goals. If the game is a microcosm of the world, we are a international community that has shown the ability to work together.  We all may walk different paths in life and in the game, but once a month those paths cross in an epic battle that holds something for everyone.
