The final match was upon us. Wxd had taken a band of neglected misfit alts and propelled themselves into a 2nd place position in A league. The question on all our minds was can we hold onto this spot.

Holding our spot means we would not have a match until the weekend, effectively getting a small break and a guarantee to get just a bit further in the rankings. No one round knock outs here….FOr this match our opponent was 4k4

We had faced them before and won. They, however, had channeled their own mighty mosquitos. Having realized they could not win; they opted to hide the package at their base for like 20 minutes last time we met. lol. Y’all, know I appreciate a good shenanigan. I found the tactic equal parts annoying and hilarious.

Knowing what, the enemy was capable of kept us on our toes. Our heads were on a swivel. We would take nothing for granted. Our attendance improved from 30-40 to more than 60 for this last hurrah. Leadership had recruited big time before this match, bringing even more misfits to lil group so we were better prepared for whatever the playoffs may hold, and we were already seeing the benefits is higher attendance. The match began as they all did, taking the nearest bases while working my way down to the Hot Springs.

One by one WxD had secured the strongholds and the outposts. When I had arrived, the battle was in progress cause no matter what account I play it is always the slowest lol.  Sadly, when I finally got there the battle was no more… No choice but to push into enemy territory and head to Greyjoy Stronghold 2

Once we had secured the stronghold we continued to push up to their outpost.

There were some epic battles. My little Skeeter made me proud to take on some enemies bigger than her.

As always there were several moments she was swarmed by the enemy

All things considered, she did well. Smaller battles were breaking out throughout the map, but we were dominating. One by one we had managed to convert all the bases. I wouldn’t say it was difficult, but the enemy did not give up. When it was clear they could not hold the strongholds and the outposts, they diverted their attention to the package… In the initial scrum for the package, they won and immediately took off in the only direction they could. Someone followed the lines from the dirty lil package thief and saw they were headed to their base. If they weren’t getting points, they would try and stop us using the same devious means from the last match. “Stop him” Sfy ordered, and we all redirected the marches to get the enemy.

Luckily everyone was faster than me and we avoided a 20-minute intermission because the enemy hid the package at their base lol. Even at that moment they did not give up as the fighting raged on. What kept 4k4 going, I will never know, but they did not waiver even when faced with certain defeat. We relished the eliminations, enjoying the match more now that the stress of will we or won’t we win, was behind us.

As the last few seconds ticked down, and the smoke began to clear from the battlefield, we were finally able to celebrate. Not only did we win,

We kept our 2nd place ranking, allowing us a much-needed day of rest instead of a match while at the same time surviving the first round just by our season rank.

Y’all know I LOVE me some shenanigans, and this match was no different. The absolute gall of them to try and do the okie doke with the package AGAIN, amused me. I can always appreciate it when the underdog finds fun and interesting ways to stick it to the bully, even when I am the bully lol.

The one thing I do take exception to is why the heck does my alt do better than my main? Sure, we will likely make the playoffs in FFS but there would be no 2nd place finish or first round of rest. Once in the playoffs, we will get so far, but Wxd is primed to go much further with the right matchups. Imagine getting the avatar frame and message frame on an alt that your main doesn’t even have lol. Dare I dream, am I getting ahead of myself?

In the meantime, I will try not to count our wins before we have earned them. Knowing that some potential opponents will work hard to stop us from being great. We must push ahead not taking any match for granted. We must treat each match seriously and not let down our guards. Today, and even this Siege of Winterfell season, the gods have shown favors upon us. We all know, however, the gods our fickle. Favored today, forked tomorrow, there are no guarantees in these Westerosian streets. If I squint my eyes and tilt my head to the side, I can see the path ahead. The only question that remains is will we be able to overcome the obstacles that will try and stop our march to victory.
