More benefits, more surprises
Its been 2 weeks now from the first of Shado's solo adventure in one of the most known events in Westeros, Arena of Honor. In these 2 weeks he kept trying to find a new team or how he's calling them a new family to be a part of, he even wrote letters and sent them to other alliances, but most of them remained unanswered and the ones that were answered left no hope for him but to head back to the mercenary camp and once again, fight the next Arena of Honor accompanied by other warriors at the camp. He decided to go with a before the sunrise battle, as he thought that maybe the strongest warriors of Westeros are sleeping at that hour after the Saturday's evening Essos parties, little did he know that he'll be in for a huge surprise. At 6 a.m. sharp on one of the coldest Sunday he encountered in a while Shado was there to sign the registration form and prepared his gear as he knew best for the upcoming battle. Just 35 minutes later everyone gathered and entered the Arena of Honor gates, eager to see along whom they will fight this time and mostly against whom.
Shado specifically was drafted on House Tyrell's side this time along with [NoS]LarryKurde, [LEG]TOP88, [GuR]LOTTO645, [FuK]NylPayne, [GuR[KingJerry, [RRH]brokenjade, [DSS]haiung5920, [CSE]vaflich and a warrior from [3OB] with a name that wasn't wrote in a language that Shado knew. Upon looking at his team Shado realized that he didn't know anyone but that's the case with mercenary camps you rarely get teamed with people you know so he decided to fight as good as he can as he always does.
Shado performed his usual swoop at the start of a match and he seen some familiar faces around, there was House Lannister having a [WxC]/[HHH] team led by S i m b a and NEW sonagi, House Baratheon was mainly composed of [1HR] and [VNV] members, House Stark was led by [RoS]losthaven, House Greyjoy led by [NBe]Gigantor44 and when he got at House Targaryen, Shado almost had a heart attack when he noticed their team, as it was one of the strongest teams in the whole Arena of Honor, made of [N0X]IMPERIALROCK, [WxC]GA1A, [WxC]NIGHTKING and so on. Even without communications it was clear for Shado and everyone else on the map that 1st place is already taken and no other team can fight House Targaryen, so as an unspoken rule City of Glory was moved out of sight and everyone decided to fight for the 2nd-3rd place that still gets the warriors hefty amount of glory points.
The fight opened with the first 7 altars as usual and it looked like everyone on House Tyrell knew the rule: when facing really strong opponents build trading posts to try and get as many points as possible, so they occupied the strongholds and got them all constructed into trading posts.
At the same time House Tyrell's warriors decided to reinforce their House as House Targaryen was building spearman military camps so their NPC attacks upon House will be strong.
The trading posts were built just in time for the opening of the new set of buildings, 5 strongholds and first altar respectively. Shado as always went for the first altar and occupied 'it but his happiness lasted about 10 seconds as [WxC]Tominy decided to send a cavalry march and demolish Shado's infantry and dreams.
If it wasn't clear enough at the start, after this attack it was for Shado that all buildings with a purple emblem (House Targaryen's emblem) was out of reach, so he decided to concentrate on buildings held by other Houses. House Lannister decided to go for House Tyrell's altars too but as they weren't completely untouchable Shado decided to scout a few altars and on one of them he noticed Big Angry from [NW1] and his spears just sitting there so he quickly assembled his solo march to try and occupy the altar.
It was now time for City of Glory but as it was known since before the fight even begin, there was only one House that went for it, namely House Targaryen and none of the other houses even tried to put up a fight for it. However, the fight for the 2nd-3rd place between the other Houses was intense and altars kept swapping sides left and right with everyone trying to squeeze even the smallest number of points possible. House Tyrell's had a few spear warriors that were in charge of hunting enemy cavalry and Shado as a infantry leader even without being able to communicate with his teammates, took his role in hunting spear enemies very seriously. He had some success here and there even against enemies with a stronger lineup, the counter mechanic being a very strong offset in power difference.
The fight for altars was so intense that time passed very quickly and before Shado noticed the horn that ends the Arena of Honor battle was heard. Overall, it was a great fight despite looking like a lost cause at the start and Shado and his House Tyrell team managed to get a well-deserved 3rd place that comes with 10 glory points, despite looking like a lost battle at the start. What Shado learned from this fight? Never give up. Will he keep going solo or he'll be able to find a team to play the next round or he'll go solo again? Guess we all have to wait and see!
