More benefits, more surprises
The arena of honor, a battlefield where the warriors present fight under a houses' banner for fame and rewards, was approaching its end, with only 3 matches to play for Ashun, all in one day. It was going to be a tense day, filled with much action and hopes of winning the City of Glory, the most important building of all, but he was used to it. He was a member of BaN, the greatest alliance of them all, and the goals in the alliance were just as high as the expectations of him from this day.
The ultimate goal of the arena was reaching the first place in the rankings whilst occupying the city of glory, as it brought an incredible amount of rewards for the occupants. The City of Glory also provided many points per minute, 20% of what each of the 6 houses was making, this was way stronger than the points altars would provide, same for dragon pits and trading posts. This meant that the House capturing the City of Glory had the first chance at winning the event.
Last round Ashun had fought alone in the arena, with a lackluster result, where his team almost lost their house, but today, he was not going to let that happen, he was going to be the joining his friends, led by Heavenssake, and they had just one goal in mind: winning the event or having a reasonable position in the rankings.
His friends were all members of BaN, this spoke out loud not only to the camaraderie that they had within the alliance, but also to the fact that even without fighting together before, Ashun had formed enough synergy with his teammates beforehand in other events.
Ashun was curious of the approach to the event that Heavenssake was going to take, as they have not discussed the plan prior. But before he would inquire about it, the opposing teams needed to be scouted, as the strategy for many teams varies based on who they were going to face against.
Thus Ashun looked across the enemy teams, and to his surprise, he had seen allies in the House Stark team, brand new BaN members, that have joined right before the round, were their opponents for today. He thought this was the only obstacle, but soon, HeavensSake pointed something out, "We have Ganicus in House Targaryen, we cannot win this.'' were the words of warning that broke Ashun's hopes for a victory.
''How do we proceed with the strongholds? What will our plan be?'' Ashun inquired, as he thought a second or third place finish would be needed for his team to consider this round a success. "Our first row of strongholds will be cavalry camps, we could secure watch towers and catapults first, then reconstruct them into trading posts. Our second row of strongholds will have to be trading posts right off the bat.'' HeavensSake answered, hoping for this strategy to be the right approach.
Everyone seemed to agree to the plan, and thus they began constructing the cavalry camps without any delay. It was no long after that all of the strongholds were finished, and the battles over altars were about to begin. They were going to be intense fights, with the goal of accumulating many points in mind.
Immediately after, the altars had unlocked, with everyone rushing to their capture, Ashun tried as well, but he was facing difficulties. Many of the opposition fighters were spearmen, something that countered him, making him unable to progress much for the team, he couldn't hold nor capture altars for a long time. Thus Ashun himself opted for a new approach: capturing altars with only using a few troops, but capturing many of them at once to put the enemy at a greater risk of losing a few of them.
For the other members of the team, who were veterans in the arts of fighting, and had the right troops types, it was an easy fight for the most part, except when facing the allied house or Ganicus himself. The battle over altars thus was pretty successful.
As the battle over altars went on and on, the rankings was starting to take shape, but there was one more objective to be fought over: the City of Glory, which has now unlocked. HeavensSake, in an attempt to delay the capture of Ganicus onto the City of Glory, has raised a rally on it, the same applied for the other allies of their team.
The delay strategy seemed to work for a while, but was soon useless, as every rally against Ganicus turned into a loss. Thus allowing him to secure the city of glory and the victory.
The battle over altars continued for Ashun and his team, slowly but surely making certain that they ended up on the podium. And after a few more minutes, the fight was over. They had secured the 3rd spot in the rankings, and the match was a great start for Ashun's long day ahead. He was now going to assemble his own teams for the remaining 2 matches, where he wished to keep up this momentum and gain more and more rewards.
He was happy with the placement of this match, and so seemed to be everyone else, the season was at its end for them, and this was more than a reasonable finish.
