A new war between kingdoms was about to begin, so Vangark and Rhaena decided to join another alliance; this time it wouldn’t be GeN, but DKS. Thanks to his contacts, he managed to secure this agreement. He didn’t want to go to his usual place, as some people already recognised him, so he preferred to look for another option. They were in K3, and both were playing Lord of Lords there – specifically phase six, where points are awarded for eliminating troops – which coincided with the war, and KVK would also grant a twenty per cent merit bonus. Mind you, they weren’t alone; a member of NBe had arrived. Days earlier, when they saw him arrive, they didn’t view him as a threat to them; rather, thanks to his level, they would face a much tougher match-up.

There was no talk between them of reaching out or working together.

Vangark concealed his identity as usual and waited in hiding for the war to begin. K437 was the kingdom they would have to fight. He immediately began searching for information on the strongest warriors in that kingdom—or rather, those with the most merit points—which would reveal who he would have to face directly.

The reply was not long in coming; his spies managed to obtain the information almost immediately. There was effectively an alliance within the kingdom, A0T, and within it was a group of RoD, two of whom had been hunted down. He had not faced them before, but he recognised one from a few battles in the Arena of Honour. He was the strongest of them all, and fought with infantry as his main line. His line-up of commanders consisted of the highest-ranked players to date: Jaqen, Vorian, Jon, Daeron and Night King. He knew they had blue dragons. There was also a lancer who appeared to be on a par with Vangark, but that posed no problem for him. The biggest obstacle was facing a group that could organise itself; although, if he were blocked and they began a rally against him, he could quickly hide everything. Furthermore, there was something that troubled him: he knew that two of them were AC/UC racers and that, strangely, they had done nothing in the final after the Old Gods had adjusted the event so that prohibited first-capture methods could no longer be used.

Rumours about finding people without a protective shield, without the need for tracking, were heard every day. He couldn’t trust those people. At that moment, he was with a captured lord60 ready for battle; when the war began, he released him and activated his protective shield. After that, two of them, who were wearing combat armour, came to gather their kingdom.

He continued to wait, hidden away in his kingdom, whilst they searched for something to attack in enemy territory, regardless of its size, as he needed elimination points for Lord of Lords. The hours passed, and neither they nor he managed to take any of the Great Cities. It was obvious to him that they knew he was there, especially when, after defeating one, he appeared at the top of the elimination rankings, and then defeated another. But as these weren’t major victories, he didn’t earn enough points to catch up with the enemy kingdom, which was gaining ground because most of its players were gathering resources. Before going to rest, he captured his kingdom’s Great Cities, but left no troops there; this was to see if they would take them whilst he was resting. When he returned, everything was still the same. There was a gap between the two kingdoms, but he could catch up with them; he did not go directly to King’s Landing, but to Winterfell instead. He sent a cavalry army, with a fifty per cent boost and T5, to score more points. He didn’t mind losing those troops; he didn’t need them for the time being. At his castle, in case he came under direct attack, he reinforced his defences with troops and dragons from his vassals, so that he could put up a better fight.

Little by little, he began to rack up more points than his rival; up until then, they’d been focusing solely on gathering resources, whilst he was already in the top six of the rankings. Now they’d know he was active. But then he realised that two of them, from the RoD group, had started racking up points in the same way; he sent a scout to King’s Landing, and there they were, the two of them, with cavalry. He watched closely and decided to wait; they hadn’t deployed their armies, so he was going to wait at least thirty minutes before making his move and striking. It was clear they were aiming for first and second place, but he still had points to earn. He looked for the strongest one, who was also without a bubble; it could be a trap, but he was willing to take the risk. Vangark withdrew his troops from Winterfell and began to mobilise his vassals to the other kingdom. Before he struck, they already had a protective shield up – what a coincidence. He knew he wouldn’t be able to strike. Not even the NBe member could do anything; he merely took King’s Landing with a vassal but didn’t deal any damage whatsoever. It was the second KvK he’d lost in four years; even the damage he did deal was insufficient for the LOL event. Both he and his enemies took the safeguards to avoid conceding elimination points, and their resource-gathering capacity was superior to K3’s, which allowed them to win by that margin.
