Once again, the match-ups in Red Mine did not favour those in K276. When the strongest players in the realm had left, those who remained found that, in most of the events or battles involving clashes with other realms, the initial match-ups were fair to them. They came up against other warriors of the same level as themselves, whom they were able to defeat thanks to teamwork. At least that was the case in the first two months; after that, everything changed, particularly in the mine, where, rather than the weapons given as rewards, many are seeking troop tokens.

This time, the situation looked more complex; the strongest were fighting with infantry, but even so, Uriel—with his cavalry and the recent addition of Cassana to his line-up of commanders—had no chance of defeating them, even with fatigue taking its toll on his opponents. He was even less able to cope with another spearman who was a contender for first place.
Kenpachi, a member of HD, gazed into the distance, and during the night he decided it was best to wait; whilst the strongest fighters gave each other no respite, attacking one another every so often, he would try to find an opportunity when things had calmed down.

There were still several hours to go, and the man standing there was one of those vying for first place. Glancing at his armour, he realised the man was fighting with infantry; moreover, fatigue had taken its full toll on him. He believed he had a chance against him and prepared for battle. First, he adjusted his refinement and utilised a fifty per cent army boost. He struck the first blow, and it was a fairly even contest. He lost – which was to be expected – as his opponent had better commanders, weapons and advisers. But if he kept striking, he might have the chance to fill his hospital and force his opponent out of the battle for at least a few minutes; at the lower end of the rankings, some players had just one or two minutes left, whilst the player in seventh place had only five minutes remaining. He kept attacking, and little by little he began to fill the hospital; his hopes undoubtedly rose when he saw that there were no longer any wounded, but rather that his attacks were causing direct eliminations. However, for the time being, they were only T1 troops, and he thought that at some point they would finish him off, but after reaching the fifteenth attack, the enemy had wounded again. He withdrew, bitter that this time he had no chance whatsoever of securing a place, even though, given the time remaining for those at the bottom, he might have been able to. He didn’t waste a single attempt on the ‘gold mine’; he wanted to wait.

After an hour, he realised that the opponent he’d been fighting was no longer there; it was now a bow. He had only six attempts left, and he didn’t hesitate to attack. His cavalry managed to break through the enemy’s defences; now it was down to whether anyone would attack him. The enemy reacted almost immediately and counter-attacked, driving him back. He waited a few minutes and attacked again; this time he gained two more minutes and was already within the rankings, but it wasn’t enough. The battle between the two continued for two more attacks; Kenpachi had only one attempt left.
He called on Lady Brissy, who was strong in infantry and had twenty attempts left; if it wasn’t him, it might be his companion who secured a place on that list of ten. She knocked him out without any trouble, but after a few minutes she was knocked out herself – not by the bow, but by another infantry warrior, Chaos, who was battling for third place. He was a long way behind the top two, but there was another warrior hot on his heels. His partner could do nothing more; the gap between them was too great for her to bridge. Kenpachi thanked her anyway and waited; with his last attempt remaining, it was simply a matter of waiting. He saw that Chaos had been attacked a couple of times, but he held his ground. He checked how long was left until the event ended – just over two hours. In that time, he’d have two or three more attempts to launch an attack.

If he took the only one he had at the moment, he wouldn’t lose anything, as he didn’t yet have a secure place in the rankings, so this time he snagged a Lord60 to boost his combat stats and attacked; he managed to take out Chaos, and now he just had to wait and see how long he could hold out. Once again, it lasted just over a minute, as he was kicked out again. But he ended up in last place. Those two hours felt like an eternity; every now and then he’d check to see if someone new had taken his place, to try and knock them out, but through Sigrid, who still had enough attempts left. In a way, he regretted having spent almost everything on that first attack. At the end of the day, thanks to those battling it out for the top three places, he managed to hold onto his position; he received at least one weapon chest and some bow troop tokens. Next time, he’ll be more cautious about using up his attempts; this time luck was on his side, although that little bit of help from Brissy was vital in securing that position. At least one of the four remaining in that realm managed to reach the top of the Red Mine rankings this time.
