Summer had finally arrived in Westeros, and freedom was just beckoning around the corner. MAJOr could practically taste the salt in his lips of the beach he was going to visit, but first he just needed to survive this day. Because in a few minutes WXD would be facing ROD in the final of the twenty third season of Ultimate Conquest.
MAJOr walked in the Great Hall and took his place next to Jiku, who was already listening to the WXD strategist.
Today is the day, the WXD strategist said simply. All those who laughed at us, who said we were not good enough, today is the day we prove them wrong. No big words, no declarations. Just being in the field, doing the best we can. We made it so far undefeated. One more time, guys, and we bring it home…..
The WXD warriors roared and leapt to their feet to take their place on the battlefield. ROD was already there. Needless to say both sides had seventy warriors at their side. Jiku turned to MAJOr.
At least no matter what, we do not have to worry about our racing, right MAJOr? And he winked at him. MAJOr winced, but had no time to answer back as the heralds signalled the start and the racers were off. Adam captured the Targaryen Outpost, and that was just about it. All the other three buildings had gone to ROD, which now held the attack base buff.

Asura has Mother and Ray of Sunshine Warrior, both these buildings will be surely swapped. Slowmarchers, now is your time to shine, the WXD strategist instructed calmly.
It definitely was not the slowmarchers' time to shine, as ROD managed to swap both buildings and to compound the disaster, the WXD strategist discovered there was no slowmarcher for the Targaryen Outpost.

OK, Adam remains, let us try to keep him alive as long as we can, he said and for the first time the tension was audible to his voice. No one rated Adam’s chances of survival very high.
MAJOr turned to Jiku, ready to do murder.
You just had to speak, he said exasperated. Never, ever, ever say such things again, as you jinx the entire team.
Jiku wisely kept his mouth shut, but wondered how on earth MAJOr had reached his advanced age and was still so superstitious. The shotcaller called for rallies on Warrior and everyone obeyed fast. A volley hit fast and hard Xasap in Warrior but Warrior was not budging.

Seconds later, Adam fell, and as the ports were about to open, ROD had the absolute advantage.
Tension was thick enough to cut with a blade as the racers once more set off. Adam managed to capture the Targaryen Port while Godofdeath secured the Lannister port for ROD.

Just tell me this time, we have a slowmarcher, the WXD strategist practically prayed and cried in relief when he saw Light Yagami marching. He decided to ignore the swap ROD would be doing also, and concentrate on the WXD one, so they secured at least one building. Adam, get ready to disband noowwwwww…..

Light Yagami was swapped perfectly in, and the relief was palpable. A quiet chuckle was heard.
Spare some troops for Lannister Port too, Imperial Rock said, and they saw he had apparently sniped the ROD swap. Hey this time you did not say slowmarchers so I went for it, pretty sure we can use one more building….

The WXD strategist was about to answer when he noticed that Drakojan, who is holding the Targaryen Outpost, is low on troops.
Spear rally leads, get ready to solo, on my mark, three two one, not wanting to alert ROD to send reinforcements. The spear rally leads, happily descended on the unsuspecting Drakonjan.

And seconds later, the second outpost flashes blue also. For the first time, ROD’s attack base buff is broken.

The time for the Casterly Rock bubble to fall arrived almost unnoticed, but the racers were ready. Sakupapa won his first race of the season and bzzb was swapped flawlessly in.

MAJOr healed his troops and prepared himself. He knew what was coming. At the same time, the WXD strategist called for reinforcements on Targaryen Port. Light yagami was being rallied.

Targaryen Port resisted, but ROD was just getting started. They hit the outposts hard and fast, and regained their attack base buff, and followed with quick successive rallies on both ports.
Jiku and MAJOr had no time to banter, as they kept sending and resending their troops trying to keep them for WXD. ROD failing to kick them, decided to go big, and used the stratagem on CR.
No way we keep it, if they use stratagem, Jiku said.
The WXD strategist seemed to have the same opinion, so as the locked defenses were getting low, he countered with bubbling the Rock.

That was a ballsy move, MAJOr whispered admiringly. He is risking having no safeguard for the mines.
But if CR holds, we will probably not need the mines, right MAJOr? Asked Jiku, like a child seeking comfort from his parent.
Right, so get ready to resend as soon as we are able to.
They both renewed their armies, filling Casterly to the brim. ROD undaunted, tried again, and hit as best they could. Their best was enough. CR fell.

Almost everyone checked the score simultaneously. WXD had a good advantage, ROD would need to get both mines to win. An eerie silence descended, so absolute, MAJOr heard the sound of the bubble dissolving in the mines. Jiku next to him was white with anxiety. The racers fled past them like a blur, and both mines, what horror, they both turned red. ROD won the most decisive races, Ashun holding the Targaryen mine while GodofDeath had the Lannister one.

Someone screamed but the WXD strategist paid no heed.
They will swap both, watch and snipe or we go home empty handed, the WXD strategist said, his voice calm and unemotional like he was discussing the weather.
Jiku honed his eyes to the Lannister as he could feel the swap coming and was determined to get it, but Striker was swapped in and kept it.
Damn, he cried and struck his hand to the ground in despair.
Kid, kid, calm down and look, MAJOr told him, practically forcing him to turn around, and then he saw.
Bzzb had intercepted the Targaryen mine swap.

Reinforce with your lives, the WXD strategist said, and keep sending more. Rally leads solo Strike just to keep them off our backs.
ROD tried but having to rally bzzb while keeping Strike alive proved to be an impossible task, and the second mine was won by WXD.

There is no coming back from this for ROD, MAJOr said and he was right. WXD was the big winner of the final!!!

As soon as the trumpets signalled the end of the final, all the WXD players ran to the centre and cheered loud enough to wake the dead. MAJOr and Jiku approached the strategist and together with a few more lifted him up. He had carried such a heavy weight all season, as most, while not doubting WXD’s strength, they definitely were sceptical if WXD had what it took to reach to the highest level, and it was all this man’s job and burden.
We won!!!!!! We did it!!!!!
MAJOr who had won more championships than most of them had breakfasts, was cheering the loudest. The strategist, looking at him smiling, guessed the joy of winning was the one thing that never got old. And he fervently wished he would manage to lead his team to many more wins as well. If any of them managed to survive their celebration drinking of course....
