Champion City Siege was at a decent time for once. Thank the Old Gods and the New Gods cause I already practically had pulled an all-nighter in our match against BDR lol. We were going to be fighting for the Fortress of Frost.

I hadn’t had a lot of time to make allies in advance, so shortly before the match I did a scan to see who was on the battlefield. There were already quite a few players on their field. I saw a big mixed group in Afv, I assumed they were a BDR group with some others from many different alliances. Their presence on the field was formidable, and while a lot can change before the match starts, they were looking like the ones to beat. There were smaller, more contained contingents. Strong players staying in their own alliances. I always admire those types, I am nowhere near strong enough yet. ROD players were also on the field in the N30 shell led by B3nni.

Hmmmm, I thought, the BDR group looked like they were ready to go all out, and they certainly had the numbers on N30 and the other smaller groups. Yet you can’t ever count out B3nni, he is very strong in any specialty so much so I would trust him with pure T5 troops without a thought lol. My exhaustion was winning the debate and I opted for B3nni’s team where I knew I would get fast points with little to no loss. Sometimes you gotta work smarter not harder for the blood diamonds lol.

Vegeta and I took our spots in the group and waited for the match to begin. We were both exhausted, the things we do for this game lol. I wasn’t about to miss this event, I need all the blood diamonds. I assumed since we were an earlier match, B3nni would try and hold the castle if possible. The big alliances all want their extra buffs, like roids for the whales lol. Like they even need it. Yet with the current make up, compared to the BDR team's presence, it didn’t look like this would be the one for ROD. Even still maxing our points should be doable. As the match began Light Yagami was the first holder.

Light Yagami was a strong spear. There was a little bit of a struggle as I tried to get into the initial rallies. I kept trying to keep my calm, and find my groove eventually getting into a couple. I find I have to balance my need to make max points with one fight versus remembering other people exist and need the shiny things too, so I was sending low marches. Sure it would take a bit longer to max out my points, but we are here for an hour so realistically, there is no hurry.

Watching all the marches hit and the too and fro of various troops was hypnotizing. Dangerous in my current state, but I was entranced. The colors, the dragons, the chaos painting a beautiful picture.

We were winning our fights but not knocking them out of the building. The enemy reinforced quickly. Considering the numbers they have, I wasn’t too surprised. We also weren't timing the marches.

After a little while, we began to time the marches. We would get close to kicking Light Yagami out, but not close enough. I was making good progress on my mission to max rewards. It was weird, this CCS felt different. Usually teams have who they want for 1st, 2nd and 3rd plac before the event starts. Yet after securely having the first spot for longest hold, he did not give up the building for some time. I was being my normal impatient self, eventually Crimson Dawn from the afv group got his turn.

B3nni switched to spears like one would change out a jacket. The change in specialty didn’t change the strength tho…

Afv’s Wangchaung closed out the event as the third holder…

In an ironic twist of fate, Wangchaung was conqueror.

Don’t ask me, yall know I don’t understand the calculations on who gets what lol. Everytime I think I understand, something happens to shake up everything I thought I knew lol. I know the Siege of Winterfell playoffs are playing a role since an alliance can only hold one Great City and with people spread on many servers, sacrifices must be made lol.

Vegeta and I had made our blood diamonds and avoided any large losses. To us the event was a success. It was just the chill dependable kind of event we needed after an exhausting 24 hrs. As I reflected on the match on the long march back to my own server, I began to think about the power gap that exists between a player like me and a certified, bonafide whale. Take B3nni, whether you love or hate him you can’t deny he is strong. Not just strong in one specialty, but equally strong in all. Here I am just trying to make Infantry great again, and we got people that can switch up like the faceless men.
