Wars & Stories in Westeros

In a game we often know the winners of big events if not the top three spots, before they even start, the Westerosian streets were a buzz with whispers of an unexpected outcome. RRH had beaten WxD in the closest thing to an upset we would see. RRH is strong, but I tend to think of them as underachievers. It sounds harsher than I mean it. They just seem to put fun above competitiveness. This blew up just about everyone's predictions and it was all everyone was talking about. I was awaiting our 2nd round playoff match, which was the first I could really play. The only problem is we matched against RoD…

Some of us, including myself, were emboldened enough to entertain, maybe pulling off our own upset moment. We had kept pace with BDR, and while we outnumbered them, they out powered us. Why couldn’t we do something similar here? I had fallen into this camp, assuming I wouldn’t just instantly die at the hands of RoDs whales. What to do and where to go when RoD would be smart ensuring coverage throughout the map, with accounts strong enough to go afk half the match and still kill me half a dozen times lol. They would be strategic. This is a one loss and you are out of the playoffs, and RoD was aware of the upset just like we were.  They would bring their A game. I spoke with Vegeta and we decided on the Armory side… The same side as the dreaded Ur Candy… Hmmm it is looking like I should just shove Vegeta into Candy and run the other way lol.

Don’t yall dare judge me. I like shenanigans not stupidity and I don’t want the smoke lol. As the clock ticked down and the match began, I decided to head to their closest base. Getting the capture points would be important since we began with a deficit in points. If I was lucky I would catch a weaker AFK player while the big fights raged on. Yall know my troops are slow, so I was waiting impatiently for my troops to get to the top of the map, and when they did arrive, they were battered. A whole march had disappeared causing myself to wonder if I had forgotten to send it…

Sadly, the battle reports were the evidence that I had not forgotten. Some oversize whale killed me. Was this a one off? I lasted way longer against BDR, who are honestly just as strong as RoD compared to us. Why did I melt like butter on a hot knife here? By the time I had closed the report and went back to the fight, I had to reset all my marches…. No ONE lived… It's gonna be a long hour. The mood was shifting. Where hope had been, only dread remained. There would be no miracle win here. RoD was relentless. I normally attract a crowd, but I would die too quickly to divert more of the enemy. Not all reports were doom and gloom. I had some ok ones…

We were not really controlling any of the buildings so leadership called for us all to swarm a dragon. I love when we do our little swarm modes lol. My teammates arrived from all over the map, surely we can at least bring a dragon home. We were outnumbering them and bringing the dragon back to our side. The RoD players that were there, began to pick us off, buying time for the rest of them to arrive. We just had to get the dragon back before that could happen. No pressure lol. To be fair, it was the dragon closest to our base. The problem is the dragon seems a bit more unforgiving then the old winterfell package. A weaker fast player could take off with the pack, but everyone needs to stay in the ever moving circle AND outnumber the enemy troops.

Red and Blue both rushing to the circle. When we made it to our home base we were energized. Maybe the dragons could help turn this into a more respectable match.

Leadership called us when it was almost time for the next dragon. This was slightly further away, but should still be doable. We were a little slower to get to this dragon, but still managed to control it. Hope was rising, dare I dream of 20K points lol. RoD had not appreciated us scoring our measly little pittance. They were not going to just let that happen twice. I watched a sea of red swallow us up until they took the dragon from our literal dead pixels lol. We were so close, and this was one of the easier dragons to get.

It was inevitable but still heartbreaking. We were not getting buildings. We would never get another dragon. Our score was embarrassingly low. Our leadership called it about halfway through. They gave us the choice to keep fighting if we wanted too, but I opted to not too. Choosing to save the speedups to fight another day.

I am proud of UTB, we had an amazing season. We got into the second round of the playoffs and most of all we had a lot of fun in this Anniversary Siege of Winterfell…Now that RRH smashed our predictions, I can at least try and make up those feathers on the remaining matches. lol
