More benefits, more surprises
The end of the regular Alliance Conquest season is approaching fast, we are already through 4 battles, but the real work is just beginning. The teams have just two chances left to secure their place in the best 16 and reach the Ultimate Conquest. At the moment no one is really in the clear, it's usually the last two rounds where the chaos starts. The various players start to move around, trying to find the right teams who have a chance of progressing to UC, it's almost impossible to predict what kind of opposition you'll face in the next round, you never can be sure which whale decides which team they would join. But that should be the problem of teams who are using this “loophole” regularly. DUM always does things in its own way, instead of queuing up for the favours of the whales, we cook with what we have...and we are doing pretty well.
After swiftly dealing with the matter of BBs in the 3rd round, an opponent who, despite their strength and experience, acknowledged the superiority of DUM. We had a FDH in the 4th round. We were close to winning but in the end FDH won by a small margin.
So we had 3 wins and one loss, we were in a good position, confidentially waiting for our next opponent. We were sure that we would not have “impossible to do” match, but we were hoping for some real action finally. More importantly another win, would secure our place in the UC – what has always been our priority and base goal for the season.
So today there would be no room for errors; the importance of a potential victory was higher than ever to reach a critical point in their season. While waiting to discover who our opponent of the day would be, our leader addressed a few words to his faithful companions: "I know you understand how important it is to bring home this match, but once again, I want to emphasize: winning today will allow us to face the sixth match with the awareness that even in case of defeat, we will be qualified without our fate being decided in the last match of the season."
Just as Thieff finished his speech, the alliance that would face them today arrived on the battlefield and it was KUM!
Fate wasn't particularly kind to DUM; today's rivals were none other than one of the contenders for a spot in the top sixteen alliances of the season. In addition to this they boosted their ranks with Nachu, who was accompanied by formidable warriors like MASAO and xxVERZARDxx. Their battlefield experience was extremely high, and in one-on-one combat, they could challenge any opponent.
“We could expect non stop solo attacks by Nachu on every buildings what we will hopefully have, he is going to bleed us until the end. So we will need a constant reinforcements flow everywhere.” – BlackDemon gave us a last second tactical advice.
The two alliances were ready. The tension was perceptible, their fate seemed to hang on the final outcome of this match. Thick clouds covered the battleground, the sky was dark as night, forcing the warriors to be cautious with every step. The hearts of the fighters beat simultaneously, aware that every move could determine the fate of their alliances. Showing the importance of this battle, DUM gathered around of their members, 89 warriors were ready to face the challenge what KUM’s 65 banners could cause.
Then the appointed hour struck and the clash has begun…
Can say that DUM had a perfect start – even tho’ we couldn’t occupy the Targaryen Outpost for first try, but after that Sylica succesfully intercepted KUM’s swap, we corrected the little hick up. After the initial phase, DUM secured all 4 buildings with some of our strongest banners and we waited for our opponents move…
As we expected, the solo attacks by Nachu has begun, he was targeting all of our structures with lighting fast and very strong attacks, what caused numerous casualties in our defence. This is one reason why occupying the Mother was so important – we have to heal our troops constantly to be able to repel these attacks.
KUM’s first properly organised attacks were on the way towards The Warrior – another important building, having a large base attack buff on your side, always comes handy…
The defence was rock-solid, and there was nothing KUM could do. The number of rallies launched were not sufficient to unsettle the defence prepared by BlackDemon, and the timing of them, which struck with significant intervals between each other did not help our opponent’s cause.
In the first part of the battle DUM demonstrated a brutal attacking and defensive force, having all 4 buildings under their influence, giving them a very comfortable lead before the next phase.
Opening of the ports…
Our racers were fastest again, managing to outmanoeuvre the enemy. At this point, the match saw them with a crushing lead of six buildings to none, piling up the trouble for KUM, which decided to go on the offensive. Under the command of Nachu, one of the most experienced and skilled warriors on the battlefield, they began rallying troops towards a single target: Lannister Outpost
There attacks were better orchestrated than the previous one by KUM. This time their rallies were hitting very fluently after each other, so fast, that DUM couldn’t reinforce the building fast enough!
As I was heading back to our base in annoyance after the lost clash, it occurred to me that it was a very clever move on their part, they had got it just in time, just before the opening of Casterly Rock – we won’t have time to take it back now.
We completed a good job, in the most important moment, when we needed to be precise we perfect on the swap and KUM not got CR with a bad attempt interception by MASAO! We all felt happy.
It was Blue Tea who delivered the decisive blow to the defenders, who, after a long series of attacks, could do nothing but retreat.
"Our primary objective is to maintain CR at all costs" were Thieff's words, urging his warriors to get ready for the reinformence for CR!
KUM's attempts were not quite enough to break through the strong defence of DUM, they rallies were not totally synced- what has given time to our to send more troops after the hits. Obviously this didn’t take away they willingness and KUM sent they another set of rallies, with better coordination but this time they lost again..
This was pretty much the last blow for KUM, in the rest of the battle they activity radically dropped and it didn’t seem that they would be come and fight any longer. They couldn’t even be bothered with the mines! When they opened up DUM easily captured both of them and we managed to resist some soloes from Nachu, meaning that we have earned huge amount of extra points from the mines, what increased the difference between the two teams, hugely.
The conquest for DUM was like a walk in the park, their warriors' morale boosted by the course of the encounter and an unwavering determination to prevail. KUM made some timid attempts to suppress them, but this was not enough to beat DUM. It was evident that today, facing opponents who not only outnumbered them, but also possessed higher motivation, power and better organisation, victory seemed to be an unconquerable challenge for KUM.
And so, the fifth round ended, with DUM securing a 4 win. More importantly, it guaranteed the qualification for Ultimate Conquest, where we would battle against the other top 15 alliances of Westeros!
However, before Ultimate Conquest, there is still one opponent to face in the sixth round, and although its importance is not too high, ending the season with another victory was the minimum for an alliance like ours. Who awaits us around the corner? Would we succeed..? Find out in the next story...see you there!
