💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield(IB) series where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the fifth week of the playoffs match between Server 73’s The Pride(PRD) and Server 136’’s ATTACK of SKY(AOSK). PRD’s positions in this match will be denoted in yellow while AOSK’s will be in red.

💠Overview

PRD was 5-3 heading into playoffs with one loss against BUNS and two losses against IMPK. They lost in the first week of playoffs against VEX and were knocked to the lower bracket of Group 4. They ran the gauntlet through the loser’s bracket to meet AOSK in the silver finals after defeating Inka, Lion, and ZOO. AOSK had a 6-2 record heading into playoffs. They lost against VEX in the gold finals before meeting PRD. They beat ZOO and NxW. PRD should be considered the favorite despite having a lower winning percentage. They fared better against stronger teams and have consistently made the top 16 in previous seasons.

💠Starting Positions and Talents

PRD

  • Started with 28 players and ended with 30
  • 12 Attack talents
  • 21 Defense talents
  • 5 Support talents

AOSK

  • Started with 27 players and ended with 29
  • 12 Attack talents
  • 13 Defense talents
  • 2 Support talents

💠Tower 1

PRD relocated eight players to Tower 1 and AOSK sent ten players with one overlap. PRD had very standard relocation positions with two players on each side of the tower. AOSK, on the other hand, was a lot more disorganized. Players on the left side of the tower weren’t even touching the tower and one player tried to move to the top side of PRD’s area. AOSK’s bottom side was standard.

💠Tower 4

PRD sent nine players to Tower 4 while AOSK sent ten players with two overlaps. PRD’s relocations could have been slightly better if two players moved closer to the tower on the right side. AOSK’s relocations were worse than their positions at Tower 1. Multiple players were far from their teammates and nowhere close to the tower.

💠Central Tower

PRD sent seven players to the center, but AOSK only relocated one. AOSK’s single player was treading to PRD’s side of the tower so his relocation would undoubtedly get destroyed. To get more players at the side towers, AOSK sacked the Central Tower. That one player should have gone to Tower 1 or 4 instead of wasting his time.

💠Altars

Neither PRD nor AOSK sent any players to either altar.

💠Home Towers

PRD had one player at their home and AOSK had three at theirs.

💠Play-by-Play

At Tower 1, PRD blocked one relocation and destroyed another. Immediately, both teams started rallying, but AOSK was losing significantly more solo attacks and defenses. PRD managed to zero one player almost immediately, but AOSK kept sending more and more reinforcements. By ten minutes, AOSK had half their team at the tower but so many of them were far away from the tower. With ten players at the tower, PRD decided this was their last shot at the tower before AOSK started to severely outnumber them. They activated their Quick Occupy, and 40 seconds later, PRD captured the tower. With the tower in their control, PRD gains an advantage due to the fact that AOSK has to focus on sending their marches to the tower while PRD just has to hit the tower when it looks like AOSK will make a run at it.

At Tower 4, PRD blocked one relocation and destroyed three others which gave them a significant five-person advantage. With so many more players, PRD went straight for the tower and captured it by the five-minute mark. AOSK tried to send a couple of reinforcements but PRD destroyed their relocations. Instead of wasting time at Tower 4, AOSK should have realized that Tower 4 was doomed and they needed to go to Tower 1 and the Central Tower before it opened. Sacking the center and then losing Tower 4 put AOSK on the backfoot early in the match. PRD proceeded to zero the rest of the players, but their rotation to Tower 1 was a little slow. When there were only one or two enemies left, PRD only needed to keep five or so players at the tower and everyone else should have rotated to Tower 1 to help hold it.

In the center, PRD easily destroyed the AOSK player who went on a solo mission. Six players waited around the tower while sending rallies and hits to Tower 1. PRD captured the Central Tower by the 12-minute mark without any resistance. By then, they also controlled Towers 1 and 4, giving them a massive 35-points-per-second difference. They led by 5,000 points.

AOSK continued to lay siege at Tower 1 for the next 15 minutes to no avail. By the time the clock ticked 30 minutes, PRD led by 43,000 points while holding four towers. This meant even if AOSK managed to retake some towers back, they wouldn't have enough time to make up the difference. Nonetheless, AOSK shifted focus and went to attack the Central Tower but was easily stopped. PRD held control for the rest of the game and cruised to a win.

💠Summary

PRD’s Daddy was the match MVP as they won the match with 100,000 points to AOSK’s 22,100. AOSK’s initial strategy wasn’t great and the poor planning was compounded by the bad relocations at the start. AOSK didn’t show much fight and was thoroughly outplayed. PRD played comparatively well but their rotations were slower than top teams. This match was AOSK’s final chance to move forward in the tournament and PRD clinched a top 16 spot.
