Introduction

Welcome to another Illusion Battlefield Prime League (IBPL) review. Now that we are out of the Group Stages, the competition has transitioned from a double elimination bracket to a single elimination bracket. This means that everything is put on the line with every match, with no room for any alliance to make mistakes.

Today, we will be doing an in depth review at the match between VEX and KOS. Coming into the match, KOS were the definite underdogs. Although they have done well to reach this stage of the competition, VEX are a team of veterans who have made it to the final stage many times, and are a difficult team to defeat.

Attendance

For the match, VEX spawned in the top right, and are Yellow, while KOS spawned in the bottom left, and are Red. VEX had an impressive 30/30 attendance from the very beginning, giving them 4 more players than the 26 that KOS had. This allowed them to quickly gain the upper hand at multiple towers without having to sacrifice numbers at others, putting KOS on the backfoot almost immediately.

Tower 1

KOS were initially able to outnumber VEX, due to some ambitious relocations by VEX which failed to reach in time. Despite this, they were unable to make the most of it. VEX were able to hold their ground, trading players with KOS as both sides lost about the same number of players. Once VEX were able to get their reinforcements to the tower, the window of opportunity for KOS closed. VEX were able to thin out the KOS players, pushing them further away from the tower before capturing it.

Tower 4

Both KOS and VEX had an equal number of players at Tower 4, which should have resulted in a standstill with neither alliance able to capture the tower. However, Due to VEX’s aggressive relocations, they were able to secure an advantageous position with more players near to the tower. This allowed them to be able to capture the tower with ease despite having no numerical superiority.

Central Tower

KOS chose to put the least priority on Central Tower by only sending 5 players to it. With VEX easily outnumbering them, there was little the KOS players here could do except to try and stall. With the battles at Tower 1 and 4 wrapping up, more VEX players started to relocate to help out with Central, securing the tower for VEX as soon as it opened.

Tower 2

Tower 2 was the home tower for VEX. With KOS losing the battle at all the other towers, they were in no position to attempt a capture of this tower, leaving it to be uncontested for the entire match.

Tower 3

KOS put up a tough defence at Tower 3, their home tower. Even with a majority of VEX players relocating to the tower, they were able to hold on to it until the waning minutes of the battle. In the end, VEX were still able to capture it, activating Violet Spring.

Epilogue

This concludes the Round of 16 match between VEX and KOS. For KOS, this marks the end of their best season to date, making it to the final stage. As for VEX, this win has effectively secured their spot in the Semifinals. They go on to face WOLF, their alternate alliance in the Quarterfinals, which gives them a free win, and a short break before their final 2 matches of the season.
