💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield(IB) series where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom that players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the rematch between Server 38’s Art of War(AoW) and Server 73’s Snugglebunnies(BUNS). AoW’s positions in this match will be denoted in yellow while BUNS’ will be in red.

💠Overview

After the Legion of Frostborne season, AoW recruited several of Server 136’s strongest players in TrevorKing, Kindergarten, and yee. Along with the powerful GgabZi11A, AoW looks nearly impossible to beat. BUNS took PRD’s strongest players for the weekend to experiment in IB. While the union is nothing to scoff at, on paper, BUNS still paled in comparison to AoW’s roster.

💠Starting Positions and Talents

AoW

  • Started with 32 players and ended with 38
  • 9 Attack talents
  • 23 Defense talents
  • 0 Support talents

BUNS

  • Started with 35 players and ended with 39
  • 12 Attack talents
  • 17 Defense talents
  • 6 Support talents

💠Tower 1

AoW and BUNS each sent 8 players to Tower 1. AoW sent TrevorKing to the tower while the strongest player for BUNS was aroha nui. AoW’s position is decent, one player in the second row just needed to position one spot closer so there would be four castles surrounding the tower. BUNS’ relocations were a little worse. BUNS knew they had worse spawns than AoW so they rightly gave up the top left corner spot instead of contesting it. A couple of players could be slightly closer together but it wasn’t anything too egregious. If BUNS can destroy TrevorKing’s relocations, they would have an easy time taking the other. Otherwise, BUNS’ would likely only be able to prevent AoW from taking the tower until TrevorKing zeroes them.

💠Tower 4

AoW and BUNS both sent 10 players to Tower 4. AoW’s strongest player at Tower 4 was Kindergarten with a nearly whopping 690k power while BUNS’ strongest player was Aria at 656k power. AoW’s markers and relocations need significant improvement at this tower. One player tried to move to BUNS’ side of the tower which would never work. Two players are in the third and fourth rows instead of the first and second. BUNS had very disciplined and standard positioning. One player had an extremely good corner spawn so she took advantage to try to block one of AoW’s relocations.

💠Central Tower

AoW relocated 9 players to the center while BUNS had 8. AoW’s strongest player was GgabZi11A and BUNS had Goatie and Spassbremse, neither of whom were any match for GgabZi11A so BUNS would likely lose the center if they can’t block or destroy his relocation.

💠Altars

BUNS sent one player to the Sun Altar while AoW didn’t send anyone to the Sun Altar.

💠Home Towers

AoW had five players guarding their home tower and BUNS had four. Usually, teams don’t usually station that many players at their home tower but it’s possible both teams felt that they needed to protect their homes from sneak attacks.

💠Turning Point

At Tower 1, BUNS destroyed one relocation, but not TrevorKing’s. He proceeded to quickly zero several BUNS players and it gave AoW the opportunity to take the tower. AoW nearly collected the tower at 9 minutes but BUNS was able to intercept the attack. TrevorKing should have sent troops to the tower at that point and it would have given AoW an early lead but he chose to focus solely on attacking. BUNS just kept sending more and more players back at Tower 1 to keep him distracted, zero the rest of the AoW players around him, and prevent AoW from taking the tower.

At Tower 4,  BUNS blocked one relocation and then immediately attempted to take the tower while tanking AoW’s rallies and Kindergarten’s onslaught. With more players and AoW too focused on attacking, BUNS took the tower at 7 minutes. That didn’t last long though. GgabZi11A teleported from the center, helped AoW zero all the BUNS players around the tower, and recaptured the tower at 14 minutes.

In the center, GgabZi11A made quick work of BUNS and by the time the Central Tower became available, there weren’t any BUNS standing anywhere near the tower. AoW captured the Central Tower at 13 minutes, giving them a It gave GgabZi11A the leisure to teleport to Tower 4 to help Kindergarten seize control. The rest of AoW surrounded the center tower and several started moving to BUNS’ home tower.

BUNS knew as soon as Aria got zeroed at Tower 4, it was lost. A couple of players recognized that the five guards surrounding AoW’s home tower were extremely weak and as soon as GgabZi11A spent his teleport to go to Tower 4, two BUNS players teleported to Tower 2 and quickly zeroed the five players there. Kindergarten needed to use his teleport to protect the tower but he didn’t so BUNS stole the tower right under AoW’s nose at 15 minutes, giving BUNS a slight 3,000-point and 15 points per second lead with 44 minutes left.

In an effort to reply, AoW tried sending several players to BUNS’ home tower but BUNS’ defense was ready. Kindergarten didn’t take action until five minutes later when he teleported to Tower 2 to get rid of the BUNS players there. GgabZi11A went back to the center in fear that BUNS would try to siege it at some point. At the same time, BUNS overwhelmed Tower 1 with players and zeroed most of the AoW players there except TrevorKing. By 25 minutes, Tower 1 was still unoccupied. BUNS were strong and numerous enough to stop AoW from taking the tower. With only a couple of AoW left, BUNS easily took the tower at 27 minutes and TrevorKing could not expel them quickly enough.

GgabZi11A and Kindergarten’s moves left Tower 4 weak and BUNS needed another tower so seven players moved and teleported to Tower 4 at 30 minutes, zeroed all the surrounding members, and stole the tower from AoW at 34 minutes. BUNS was down 7,000 points, but this gave them a slight 5 points per second lead with 26 minutes to play.

Immediately, AoW started moving Kindergarten and crew to Tower 4. He alone was able to zero multiple players so BUNS started moving towards Tower 2 again. At 45 minutes, GgabZi11A spent his teleport to move from the center to Tower 4. Just as quickly as he came, Aria left and teleported to Tower 2. With the help of a couple of her teammates, BUNS took Tower 2 once again, giving them a 30 points per second advantage while still down 3,000 points. The remaining players at Tower 4 stopped AoW from retaking the tower until 52 minutes. By then, BUNS was up a meager 4,000 points and 5 points per second lead with 7 minutes left. It wasn’t enough time for AoW to make a comeback.

💠Summary

BUNS’ 키르아 was the match MVP. They won the match with 83,300 points to AoW’s 76,900. The game came down to margins and BUNS demonstrated their mastery of teleporting at the right time to the right tower. AoW’s newest additions from Server 136 played extremely poorly, often making poor decisions at crucial moments. For example, AoW could have taken Tower 1 early in the match and would have likely won had TrevorKing stopped tunnel-visioning on enemies and focused on capturing the tower. Kindergarten could have teleported to follow Aria and stopped her from doing whatever she wanted to AoW’s home tower. They were good at creating space but AoW lost due to the team’s macro decisions. GgabZi11A tried to make corrective plays to no avail. BUNS may not win again if they have more time to gel with their new team but BUNS will be happy with the win nonetheless.
