Legion of Frostborne - Thermal Tower

Hi everyone, i’m PO PandaMoratia. In today’s article we will talk about the Thermal Tower in the Legion of Frostborne Campaign.

It is probably the most important thing in this game mode, Thermal Tower not only gives you vision and cleanse the cold it also dictates objectives you can contest. If more than one Thermal Tower is in competition for an objective priority, the older one is the one that prevails.

Manufacture : 

Before you can put a Thermal Tower on the map, you need to manufacture some. You can do a normal manufacture or a quick one (take less time but cost more resources). To manufacture a thermal you need resources that are gained while members of the alliance gather in Frostborne. Which is why it is very important to have all members or the alliances to gather in frostborne as soon as possible to stack up resources, especially in times of peace, as it can become tricky to gather in Frostborne once the gates are open.

Drop a Thermal Tower : 

The first Thermal Tower can be freely dropped anywhere near an allied City and outside the range of a not allied Thermal. Second and further Thermal Tower however needs to be connected to another Thermal of yours.

If you are using Wonder Builder tactics, then the Thermal appears already completed, if you don’t have the tactic activated, you need to send march to build it. The amount of troops inside the march is irrelevant and you can send a 1 troop march if you want. The more marches build the thermal, the quickest it finishes. If the thermal gets attacked while being under construction, the building march will be attacked first, if none are left then the Thermal will start to lower Durability and if it reaches 0, the thermal will be fully demolished and no march can be sent to it to build anymore.

The more Thermal Tower you own on the map and the longer it takes to build a new one.

Dismantle a Thermal Tower : 

You can dismantle the opponent's thermal tower by sending marches at it. The amount of troops inside the march doesn’t matter and you can send a 1 troop march if you want. The more marches dismantling the thermal and the quickest it will go down. The opponent can free his thermal from dismantling troops by attacking it (trigger bloodrage). If there is no troop inside the thermal, he can send a garrison to protect it, the attacker will have to defeat the garrisoned troop before he can put marches to dismantle it (garrisonning doesn’t trigger bloodrage).

If you send a garrison while an attack is on the way but not yet reach, you can expel it, in the event the attacker reaches before your garrison, without triggering the bloodrage.

Thermal Tower Range : 

Thermal Tower has a 9 square radius at which it will remove the cold, give vision, allow another Thermal Link and if it covers an objective and have priority, allow you to contest it. Fighting for Thermal Tower priority is the main occupation in the Frostborne Campaign and it will probably be the thing you will do the most.

Conclusion : 

The Bread and Butter of Frostborne Campaign, understanding Thermal Tower Mechanic and importance is the key of this game mode. Whoever controls the Thermal, controls the maps and by extension gates and cities. Keep in mind that any troop inside the thermal owns the vision of it, which means by dismantling your thermal, the opponent can use its vision to his advantage and put you in the dark even though it is your thermal.
