The Champion’s set is one of the Free 2 play sets most beginners use, you gain this set by farming on nodes such as Grain,Stone,Iron. The only mine node that doesn’t give any attributes to this set is the Gold node.

This armor is mostly used when it's finally reached gold, players mostly use parts of the armor for either its infantry attack, spearmen attack or cavalry attack as the set has all these buffs in some parts.

Storm’s Rage set

The Storm’s Rage set is mainly gained by defeating rebel leaders / attacking rebel leaders, each time you attack a Black ears or Stormlands Insurgent Rebel leader you have the chance of gaining pieces to upgrade this set.

This set is for the more advanced players that just got their Champions set done, This set is also mainly used by players who focus on a infantry or cavalry formation. Since this set doesn’t attain a lot of spearmen buffs.

Sunspear set

This set is mainly used for players who select the Infantry frontline mixed with a spearmen line in the back, this set is mainly used by players who decide to have a very strong infantry setup mixed with spearmen which makes you run a 2-line formation against your enemy.

You’re able to gain items for this set by defeating / attacking Greenblood warrior and Narrow Sea Raider rebel leaders

Frost set

The frost set in combination with any of the sets above is used alot by Spearmen and cavalry players who like to play either a monoline (1 strong troop type only) or a 2-line formation, which usually results the player into running Cavalry-Spearmen formation or a Spearmen-Cavalry formation due to the high spear and cavalry buff this set contains.

To obtain items that you require to turn this set from gray to max gold you will need to defeat / hit the Bolton’s Boy and Northern Rebel Rebel leader

Royal Kingsguard set

The Royal Kingsguard set.

This set is mainly used by players that have obtained all the gearsets above and maxed them all out to gold. To earn this set you will have to have every piece of the gear sets above to upgrade this.

This set is one of the more common pvp gearsets out there, it gives you the advantage of the enemy not being able to read what troop type you’re using and what your frontline is. This usually makes the enemy either back down and not hit you or they will have to start guessing by creating a rally but risking the chances of you countering their troops and winning with very low losses.
