At 10:18 PM, the restoration team placed the bell inside a locked display room on the hotel's second floor.

At 10:41 PM, the building's old electrical system suddenly failed.

The lights went out for exactly six minutes.When the power returned, the display room was still locked.The windows were sealed.But the Midnight Bell was gone.

No alarm had been triggered.No security camera showed anyone entering or leaving the room.

Yet investigators discovered something strange in the hallway.A trail of small brass fragments led away from the display room and stopped beside an old service elevator.The elevator had not been used for more than twenty years.

There were three possible routes that could have been used to move the bell.

The Deduction Logic:

Daniel was not following another person.He was following footsteps created by the subway's ventilation system. The passing trains caused pressure changes inside the old ventilation shafts. In the long underground passage, the sound traveled through the walls and vents, creating footsteps that seemed to come from somewhere ahead.

This explains why Daniel repeatedly heard footsteps but never saw anyone.
