After a very easy win in the previous round of Arena of Honor, Hunger was looking forward to the next round. Last time they had taken the risk of accepting Vangark into their team. He was strong for sure but also had a high score, boosting up the team. But it worked very well the previous round, and Vangark played very well, so they went with him again.

It would also be the first time Hunger would be using the castle skin he had fought hard for in the round before, meaning he would be able to enter with an additional 300k soldiers. Maybe those would come in handy.
Everyone in voice was in a good mood, talking about a lot of things from in and outside the game. That was until Hunger entered the match and saw who they were playing…

Although the enemies looked like random teams that probably did not have that much organization, they had people like Beasty and DeathBunny, two very strong inf accounts. The worst was Stereor, though, a basically maxed cav account with 20k+ CR.
As soon as Hunger started reading, he knew this would be a very hard match. He was well enough informed to know these people by name. All their team could hope for was to take advantage of their superior organization, because the pure strength was definitely not on their side.

Normally this was the type of map Hunger would have wanted to play trading on, but since trading was basically dead in the current AoH matter due to you needing a second house to make trading worth it, something that was impossible without strongholds.
Knowing all this, they went for cav camps to counter the watchtowers, with the other teams doing the same.
Fighting for warriors with so many strong accounts was very difficult, so reinforcements were needed to have any chance at holding for long enough.

Vangark could defend decently well against the high amount of cav accounts, but there were also a lot of inf accounts that would be a pain.

Hunger himself could basically not do anything. Even against already hit targets, he did little damage, and that was not even the strongest cav account on the map.

They had to change some cav camps to inf since the NPCs had built full spear to counter their house, and with that, they started taking over the map.

While their warrior grind was way more successful than the ones from the other time, sometimes solos put a wrench into their plans. Stereor could solo Chaos no matter how many reinforcements he had.
Their watchtower strategy slowly started to work out, though. The inf camps allowed them to be the first to get their second house, and they had secured all catapults as well.
When the Center opened, DeathBunny went in, and although they knew it was a mission without return, they had to try, rallying him with Chaos and Vangark.

The damage was very little, meaning the enemy team would take the center, passing Hungers team in points. They had done so well with the camps, though, that they were still within reach.

That was until they were also able to take the House of Greyjoy due to Stark messing up their setup. That should have been the nail in the coffin for their hopes to still get first place, but that did not prevent them from trying, especially since any additional point would also give them more rewards.

The Targaryens were not super active in the small mines, and after blundering their bottom house, it looked like their team might have a chance to get back into the game.

9 minutes before the end, House Tyrell was completely empty, and whoever of the 2 factions would attack it first would get the rewards for holding 3 castles, and in case of Hunger’s team, could even be enough to get back first place.

But luck was not on their side, and their hit arrived 20 seconds after the one from purple, ending any last hope left for them. Hunger was not surprised; he had never truly believed in victory, but it was sad regardless.

It had been a real struggle between strength and teamwork, but in the end their team could not do much if even a max defense could just get soloed out. Still, they made the best out of their situation, beating Stark to secure second place while keeping the Targaryens busy. They had still gotten good rewards, and it was not like they were aiming for Glory King.
For the next match, they would have to decide if keeping Vangark in with his high score had been a mistake or not, but that was an issue for another day. For now, Hunger had to decide what he could spend his Glory coins on now while preparing for the next Arena matches two weeks ahead…
