Hotep was looking forward to another Arena of Honor match. After Hunger had gotten his castle skin at reset, Hotep hoped to follow up on that. But while Hunger’s grind for it in the reset match had been optimistic but still very possible, Hotep’s chance of getting the skin with that much was more of a fever dream. While not technically impossible, it might as well have been.
So Hotep decided to give up that goal early, so he could focus on just securing a win. That would especially be a challenge since both their main and backup inf rally leads would not be there for that round, so they would go in with 2 spear leads with Hotep as backup versus inf. It had to be mentioned, though, that Hotep had little hope versus inf leads the size of their spear leads.
It was not the best situation, so they had to pray for a good matchup.

Looking at the rankings to see their enemies, they saw a lot of familiar faces. They had played the Aroga NBe team 3 times in a row around the end of the previous season, winning 2 of the encounters. Having just spear leads against them could have been fine, but the team had gotten a guest they had not had previously, Mirela.
Mirela was also a familiar face, but because she was a friend of Hotep and not because they had met before in Arena. Her very strong spears would make some inf leads very useful, and the other team, a strong RRH team, also had inf leads that would make them holding with a spear a pain.
All in all, not the best situation, but there was nothing Hotep could do about it now, so they just went on as usual, hoping things would turn out fine.
The watchtowers were inf, so Hotep’s team went to cav outposts, but after seeing the NBe team went spear-cav, they changed to inf-cav.

Then the fight for the warrior buffs started. RRH went for trading with just a few camps for the first capture, meaning it was a 1 v 1 against NBe, meaning leads with a good amount of reinforcements were key.
Overall their team was quite successful, though, getting about two-thirds of the warriors, but they had bad luck not getting the 3rd attack buff for now.

While fighting for the warriors, Hotep also encountered RRH’s strongest lead for the first time. An account so strong not even counter could help Hotep. He would kick him out in 4 solos, but that only worked because he never got reinforced.
With Nbe slowly taking over the map due to their favorable camps and Hotep’s team being unable to get the last attack buff, their situation when the center opened was not optimal, meaning they just needed to get it.
Originally an inf player was inside, so both spear leads and Hotep rallied, but Mirela ended up taking it over, meaning Hotep got hard countered.

While, of course, losing hard, killing 500k was not too bad, reducing the enemy numbers and allowing the rally behind Hotep to win, taking the building.
They would not have to wait long for the response, though, with Nbe setting rallies up instantly.

With Mirela winning the rally by just 5k troops, Argora’s rally hitting right after had no issue killing the last few survivors.
With 2 spear leads, they knew they could kick them back out, and that's what they did in their next wave, making good use of the counter advantage.

And Wind was a bit stronger than Cubishina, meaning their chances to hold were not quite a bit higher.

Wind was able to win against Mirela, allowing them to hold the building. Things were looking well. The 4 minutes to hold the building turned into 3, then 2, and then there were just 60 seconds left.
But there was one more wave they had to hold against. One more and they would be fine.

Unlike previously, MadMaz, who had not done much towards the City of Glory previously, decided to join in. NBe saw that and timed their rallies accordingly, allowing them to easily take the building.

Luck was not on their side when they tried to kick Mirela out, and with MadMaz and RRH as a whole apparently not caring about the center anymore after they had prevented Hotep’s team from getting it, it was in NBe’s hands. And while they could try again in 4 minutes, there was no way they could hold it for long enough.

With their hard focus on Center, their team had dropped to third, so the main goal now was to catch up to RRH. The first step there was that they finally figured out what the issue was with their strongholds that prevented them from kicking NBe out of catapults, so they fixed that, and together with the last warrior attack buff they had finally gotten, they finally started taking the map back.
And while their team did everything to catch up, having a good mine run, focusing on everything that RRH had was quite successful. The main event that got their team back in second place was not an action they took, but an action the alliance did that had gotten them into that situation in the first place.

NBe securing the second House of RRH secured the second position for their team. Their team probably would have done it without them too, but who knew what RRH would have done differently knowing they still had their second house?

The end result was not as close since there was not much of value RRH had left, and they had given up, but it had been a stressful few minutes.
Their plans for first had failed, mainly due to missing a decent inf lead to counter Mirela out, but given the situation, they were quite happy about second place. Hotep only had to make sure his inf leads were not distracted from the most important thing, Arena, when the next match was up.
Hotep, of course, did not get his castle skin, but he was hopeful to get it in the next round. It was not a given either, but much more realistic than getting it in that round. They only had to win next time…
