With less than a minute remaining, Korillion2 was still fighting beneath the Armory.
The outcome had already been decided.
Voice chat had shifted from urgent callouts to congratulations, jokes and reminders to activate shields after the match. Most of us already knew we had done it.
But one of WAO's strongest players still refused to stop charging into battle.
Looking back, that final minute summed up the entire evening perfectly.
The final score tells only half the story.
The other half happened between the numbers—in voice chat, in split-second decisions, and in ninety-one players who trusted each other enough to become more than the sum of their individual strength.
A PLAN BEFORE THE STORM
"Come on people... this is going to be a hard match."
Those were Mister Rose's final words before the gates opened.
He didn't need to explain why.
Across the battlefield stood WAO, an alliance that had earned the respect of many players through consistently strong performances in events. They had built a reputation as an organised and disciplined opponent. Adding to that were two players almost everyone knows by name: Korillion2 and Achille.
I had actually fought alongside Korillion during Champion City Siege before. Scoring points in his rallies was fun.
Trying to stop him...
...turned out to be a very different experience.
Long before the countdown, our strategy had already been discussed. One group would focus on the Armory, another on the Hot Spring, while most cavalry players prepared to rotate towards Winterfell as soon as the treasure bags appeared.
For players unfamiliar with Siege of Winterfell Bag Edition, controlling objectives is just as important as winning fights. The Armory provides valuable combat buffs, the Hot Spring doubles healing speed, and every treasure bag delivered from Winterfell awards points—with each new bag becoming more valuable than the previous one.
Voice chat suddenly became quiet.
Only Mikey broke the silence.
"Please fasten your seatbelts... we'll be leaving in ten seconds."
Everyone laughed.
Ten seconds later, nobody was laughing anymore.

THE FIRST CLASH
"Go! Go! Go! Move, move!"
Ninety-one TIS players rushed forward to meet eighty-five members of WAO.
My assignment was the Armory, which also meant I knew exactly who I was likely to meet there.
WAO's F Patricio reached the Armory first, but Ed Hill caught up within seconds. Dom arrived shortly afterwards, and the entire area exploded into chaos.
Before long, more than 170 armies were fighting around a single objective.
If you had looked only at the Armory during those opening minutes, you probably would have thought the entire match was happening there.
At the same time, another massive battle unfolded around the Hot Spring. We managed to secure both objectives first, gaining an early advantage through buffs and faster healing.
It was a great start.
Nobody expected it to last.
Just before the Strongholds opened, WAO recaptured the Hot Spring.
That one moment perfectly set the tone for the rest of the match.
Nothing stayed under anyone's control for long.

THE MAN AT THE ARMORY
Strongholds soon became another priority, allowing players to teleport much closer to the action after healing.
As Winterfell was about to open, Mister Rose checked in with our whale.
"Ever, are you ready for the bag?"
"No, I'm killing infantry."
The reply made everyone laugh.
A few seconds later she was already on her way towards Winterfell.
Meanwhile, the fighting had spread across the entire map.
Then someone called over Discord.
"Korillion is back at Armory."
Nobody sounded surprised anymore.
We pushed him back.
He healed.
A few minutes later...
"Korillion is back."
Again.
And again.
By then, nobody expected to stop him with a single march.
Whenever his name came up, nobody answered,
"I'll get him."
Instead, the response was always the same.
"We need more people."
Looking back, that simple sentence says a lot about the match.
Nobody tried to be the hero.
Everyone simply did their job.
THE RACE FOR WINTERFELL
Once Winterfell opened, the focus shifted to the treasure bags.
"Kill the rest at Hot Spring, then go Winterfell!"
The first treasure immediately became a tug-of-war.
Mister Rose carried it.
Tahar picked it up after he fell.
WAO intercepted it.
Then NAGINI claimed it and headed south.
One of the funniest moments of the match came when BANK picked up the bag...
...and ran in the wrong direction.
"Go down!"
No reaction.
"GO DOWN!"
Still nothing.
Only then did someone realise BANK wasn't in voice chat. The order was repeated in alliance chat and, thankfully, he turned around.
The first bag was ours.
Another memorable moment came when NAGINI picked up the treasure.
"NAGINI, you are the chosen one!"
"I am dead now!"
"So... you're not the chosen one."
Even during a hard match, there was still room to laugh.
Nobody expected a single player to carry the bag all the way home. As each carrier came under heavy pressure, they counted down over voice chat so the next teammate was already waiting. One player fell, the next picked up the bag, and the journey continued almost without interruption.
Watching those smooth transitions was one of the best examples of the teamwork that defined the entire match.

SMALL ADVANTAGES ADD UP
Looking only at the scoreboard, it almost seemed as if TIS was slowly taking control.
It certainly didn't feel that way on the battlefield.
WAO kept rotating together and fought for every objective.
Then came the fourth bag.
Everyone knew it was worth more than any before it.
WAO arrived in force.
"We need more people! Come on guys, way more people!"
Within seconds, marches from every corner of the map converged on Winterfell.
For a brief moment, it felt as if the entire battle had moved to a single location.
We captured the bag.
Lost it.
Captured it again.
Slowly, we fought our way back towards our base.
By the time the fourth bag was delivered, TIS had opened a significant lead.
Later, treasure boxes started appearing across the battlefield.
"Get the boxes! We only need seven more!"
Unlike the Winterfell bags, treasure boxes increase your alliance's Blessing level and unlock powerful buffs.
We secured enough for the second-highest Blessing level, missing the highest reward by just one box.

THE FINAL MINUTES
As the score approached 80,000 points, congratulations slowly replaced urgent callouts.
Yet the fighting never truly stopped.
WAO continued contesting objectives until the very end.
And beneath the Armory...
Korillion was still there.
Still charging.
Still fighting.

The final scoreboard showed WAO's Korillion2 and Achille occupying the top two spots in elimination points.
TIS walked away with the victory.
Looking back, the score really did tell only half the story.
The other half was written by ninety-one players who trusted each other, followed the plan and proved that in Siege of Winterfell: Bag Edition, individual strength can win fights.
But teamwork wins matches.
