Spring had arrived in Westeros, and it was a lovely warm evening with fragrances reaching even the sequestered Great Hall of NOX alliance. But despite the lovely evening, the expressions of the warriors were sombre and grim. They were headed out to face RRH for the second match of the twenty third season of Alliance Conquest and no one was really looking forward to it. The RRH warriors were immensely stronger, so chances were slim to none that they were able to come with a favorable result.
Well at least we won the first match of the season, right? Lord Strandli said, trying to lighten up the atmosphere, but all seemed too focused on going over their tasks to even respond.
Belore, their strategist, took the floor to give them a last minute pep talk.
I know this is a tough match, but we go in, play the best we can, and try to get a decent result. At worse, we can at least practice and improve our gameplay for our next matches,
Get ready to race, only a few seconds left, Scythe, the NOX Duchess instructed.
The trumpets sounded and the racers were off. They kicked up so much dust, ChristianOr was hard pressed to see what happened, but when she did, she wished she was still in ignorance. RRH had won three of the four initial races, only Lannister outpost going to NOX with Fatcom.
Look Mother will be swapped, cried Scythe, and Mablung managed to intercept, but as soon as smiles were about to emerge, LadyPatt took the Outpost for RRH, while Papa Schultz was swapped flawlessly on Warrior.

Quick, open rallies on Warrior, called Belore. Belore was determined to break the attack buff of RRH early on. Mablung had already succumbed to the deadly solos of RRH, so they would fight without the advantage of cheaper healing for their injured troops.
The NOX warriors raised their banners immediately and they shot out to Warrior.
Can we even kick them? ChristianOr wondered out loud.
Let’s find out, Lord Strandli replied cheerfully.

Encouraged by their success, NOX called for rallies on Lady Patt, where they encountered a wall, as her cavalry setup was tough for the mainly infantry rally leads of NOX.

As the ports were opening, RRH started rallying Shado in the Warrior. The ports race was evenly split by the two allies, with NOX getting the enemy port with Falin.
Get ready to swap, in three two one, Belore was counting calmly but as the slow marcher arrived so did Pyramid of RRH, who sniped the building with ease, while at the same time Shado lost the Warrior to Apollonius, who thankfully was a spear warrior.

Things were already bleak, but NOX was determined not to give up easily, even if the odds were against them, and rallied the enemy outpost, and finally got a building for NOX.

Should we rally anything else? ChristianOr asked, but Belore shook his head negatively. Casterly Rock was upon them, and if they managed to secure this building they might have a chance to catch up a little to RRH.
Casterly Rock’s bubble fell, and NOX tried their best to win the race, but Fernan for their opponents arrived first.

There was a disappointed sigh from the NOX side of the battlefield, but Belore, unperturbed, addressed them.
Now is the time to rally Warrior, he said, and once more obediently the NOX rally leads, save Hotepra, who somehow was still clinging to his outpost, and Balrum who was inconspicuously absent, called the banners. They tried to improve their rally timing and it must have worked as GrogU ended up with the Warrior.

Well done, team, Belore congratulated, we have the attack buff for the ….. When a timid voice interrupted him
Some infantry to Casterly Rock, please, Balrum asked.
Immediately they all rushed to defend him. Was it possible? Would they manage to turn this impossible game? No one was speaking, they all knew this was the most critical moment of the match. RRH started rallying Warrior.
Reinforce Warrior please, be ready to send again, Scythe said and the tension was apparent in her voice.
Sadly RRH was very strong in spears and Grogu was cavalry, and within one set of rallies he fell to Peugeot, and NOX’s attack buff was gone.
Let us solo Warrior before RRH fully reinforces, Belore was still trying to improve the NOX situation. ChristianOr knew she was racing towards certain death and annihilation but all she knew was that they had to try. The solos went off but RRH was not caught off guard so the Warrior was preserved. At the same time, Balrum in CR fell, and to add insult to injury he died on a spear player.

Ok, this did not work, let us rally, Belore was not relenting and for sure he was not calling the match. Once more they opened rallies and set off for Warrior. Peugeot’s defense finally crumbled and Leandra managed to put the NOX flag up in Warrior once again.

With Warrior secured and Lea giving her place to her husband Vergo, NOX decided to rally the port held by Lady Eo. Poor injured NOX warriors once more filled the rallies and they set off.

Only RRH’s splendid reinforcements made them keep Lannister Port. Unsurprisingly, once more, Warrior fell, and NOX was left with no buildings. Belore looked around to see where he could rally but RRH at this point they appeared like an impenetrable wall. NOX could get some of the buildings with a lot of effort, but so far they had not managed to hang on to a single one.
Ok we rally the Pyramid port, Belore obstinately was still not giving up. ChristianOr did not know whether to admire him or kill him.
You will have to go on without me, Balrum sheepishly called. I may have soloed Warrior.
RRH felt it was a good idea to return the favor and tried to solo Balrum out of Warrior.

Meanwhile NOX proceeded with rallying the Targaryen Port with results as similar as they had been all day.

Perhaps the mine will go our way, said Belore, and when their time came, NOX was able to capture the Lannister mine with Lord of Hunger and they had to call a swap as he was not a rally leader. A dash of air passed and Lord Adder of RRH had sniped the mine.

The trumpets signalled the end of the match. RRH had prevailed.

Nothing really went our way tonight, Belore said grumpily.
That is definitely not true, replied Lord Strandli cheerfully. We totally dominated somewhere, he winked and continued seriously. There is no RRH to be seen in the healing rankings for at least the first twenty places.
Belore tried to give him an angry look but could not sustain it and started laughing. What a match but hopefully the next ones would be better…
