Moving into our 5th match of the season we're feeling optimistic about our chances to qualify for UC. Tonight’s game is going to be hard and we need to bring our A game. OBV has stronger accounts overall and from past AoH experience I already know there are at least two players we simply cannot move if they settle inside a building.

The hype is real and, as expected, we're asked to give it everything we’ve got, so like the good reinforcer that I am, I pop a 75% army size and Agile… because realistically, that’s about as much impact as I can personally add, lol.

The map is already open for some time before I join. I’m so late people are already pinging me on Discord asking if I plan on entering the match at all.😅And even with our “A game” mentality, we’re starting slightly behind OBV. Nothing serious, but in high stakes games like this, every little thing helps.
As the game starts my fingers are ready to sprint. I’ve won some important races this season for N0X and I want to keep the streak alive. I’m even trying out a few clever positioning optimizations to my racing technique, so here we go!
With Phase 1 done, we successfully win 3 out of 4 races and execute 3 perfect swaps. We fail to intercept the OBV swap on Mother, but we’ll deal with that after surviving the wave of rallies they immediately start on our Warrior.

We defend Warrior and, almost at the same time we take Mother, they take Warrior. So we basically trade the important buildings.😀

No matter. Seconds later we reclaim Warrior for a clean 4/4 map control under N0X banners. Honestly, that’s impressive considering we’re fighting a top alliance like OBV. They’re still slightly ahead in points, but this game is far from decided and we’re setting the pace.

Phase 2 starts with a clean 50/50 split on the port races. Each alliance wins the far side. I’ve seen this pattern enough times now that I’m convinced it’s tied to the speed mechanics and travel time reductions.
But more importantly, OBV still hasn’t taken any of our original buildings we claimed and that's a huge boost of confidence for us.

Soon after, we finally lose Warrior after nonstop pressure, but not before intercepting their swap and buying ourselves extra time. I guess having people specifically assigned to watch swaps really does pay off.😊

Moving into Phase 3, we continue our surprisingly dominant map control. We win the race for Casterly Rock and immediately plant one of our strongest accounts inside. If we can hold CR for some time, we’re in an amazing spot.

Meanwhile, OBV retakes Warrior, but we answer by kicking them out of close Port. At this point, N0X is really punching above our weight class. OBV may have stronger accounts, but we’re dominating them across the map.

Still, the pressure keeps growing. Eventually we crack under simultaneous pressure across multiple buildings and lose close Port. Honestly, considering we were simultaneously defending against three timed rallies, it could have been much worse.😀
But the good news is we still hold Casterly Rock, and in the current map split that’s far more important. Warrior buffs would have been nice, sure, but CR has the best points per minute.

As Phase 4 starts… things begin getting really interesting, and not just because I win my second race of the game.
With more objectives active, the map finally starts looking evenly split between N0X and OBV. We win both new races from Phase 4, but in return we lose close Port, an Outpost, and eventually Casterly. That’s a massive change in "power" and we can feel OBV catching momentum.

We get a shot at retaking Warrior and decide this is the moment to commit. We even use the Stratagem Bubble on it just to stabilize the bleeding and stop the OBV snowball before it grows even bigger. Interesting and risky move, but necessary, I guess.
And it kind of works, because with Warrior locked, we get a chance to stabilize control over the map once again.

The game slows down again and we regain enough control to steady ourselves. Unfortunately, the next problem arrives immediately after. Big Angry is placed in Casterly Rock!😣

At that point CR is basically blocked for us. Most if not all our rallies bounce and our own “plant the biggest monster account in CR” strategy is now being used against us with an even bigger monster. Our Big Alpaca (Balrum😀) is terrifying… but Big Angry is definitely worse. So we're forced to adapt if we want to stay ahead of OBV.

And just when it feels like we’ve stabilized, OBV lands another punch. They put Goosy 2 into Warrior. That’s sad. The second untouchable building.
Now they hold CR, Warrior, an Outpost and a Port. The buffs are stacking against us and you can feel morale starting to dip a little. We knew we were the underdogs, but after such a strong opening, losing ground like this hurts bad.

We defend what we still gold as best we can, but with mines approaching, the points lead we have no longer feels safe, and the pressure is starting to increase.

Right before mines open, the energy in voice chat completely changes. The entire game has led to this moment. OBV has the stronger accounts. The second they locked down Warrior and CR with their monsters, brute force stopped being an option for us.
But despite that, we’re still ahead. Not because of account strength, but because our strategy and rotations throughout the game were simply better. We "danced" around their big players beautifully and squeezed points out of every opportunity.
Now we just need to survive mines. And every AC veteran knows mines can completely flip a game.
We’re still reinforcing buildings across the map while preparing for races. People are juggling their troops between heals and reinforcements. It feels like chaos, but it's controlled chaos, and this is what wins us games.
The mines open. We launch! But... I lose my race? Not great. At last we won the race for the far mine.
But before they get comfortable in their mine, our rallies land. And we break their holder!
We won the race and swapped far mine… then caught OBV completely off guard and take their mine too!
Right now both mines are controlled by N0X. If we can stay on top of reinforcements, we've won!
The instant both mines turned blue, you could feel the game slipping away from OBV. They still tried a few rallies, but the pressure just wasn’t there anymore. The OBV war machine that had been grinding us down all match finally started slowing.
Then they hit 60k points, and as soon as that happens, they disband.

At that point they fully accept the outcome and let us maximize points for UT.
Before the end, a few OBV players still throw attacks at weaker buildings trying to deny us extra score, and for a moment even our "100k+ finish" looks slightly shaky, but we defend everything just fine. The game ends with 100k points secure and a glorious victory against OBV.
Seeing this victory materialize like that against a team like OBV feels incredible. They clearly overpower us, but we outplayed them!
