At the last second - Champion City Siege - Hall of Ages
Welcome, Lords and Ladies of Westeros, to the brand new season of the Champion City Siege.
The Saturdays before each CCS match are very exciting and full of tasks for me. I have to stop everything I am doing and transfer resources to my main account to train millions of troops and increase my hospital capacity. Normally, the matches my kingdom takes part in happen in the middle of the night, which is a very bad time for me. However, this time I needed the battle tokens to finish my war badges and increase my account’s attack power.
The day of the match finally arrived, and there I was, awake at five in the morning to play. I do not have much experience with CCS, nor do I have many connections in the super alliances, so I needed to find a team to join. And as soon as I analyzed the battlefield, I quickly noticed that this match would be a little bit chaotic.

On opposite sides were mDB and YGI, two alliances that brought their best players to try to dominate the battlefield and hold the castle for as long as possible. mDB had some key players, such as Achron and Alan556, to lead their cavalry and spear rallies.
On the other side, YGI came in strong, but without their main player, Don Stefan, who was in a different kingdom and could not take part in this match. Even so, YGI remained strong and competitive, and for this battle, they relied on Platon and Ser Baristan.

But they were not the main names of this match. All the attention and expectations were focused on IFW and BBY, both packed with players from the biggest alliances in the game.
IFW, which had the numerical advantage, relied on Ledogi (infantry) and mml (cavalry), both from the NBe alliance, to lead their rallies. On the other side, I decided to join the BBY alliance. I knew they would be at a disadvantage, and I saw it as a great opportunity to participate in nonstop rallies and earn millions of tokens. BBY was well prepared. Tanalyn (infantry), baby (spear), and GeorgeBylis (cavalry) were the key players on that team.
3, 2, 1… the match began.

When mml captured the castle, no one was surprised. We all knew that IFW would take it and send thirty reinforcements within seconds before we could kick them out. But our plan was clear and straightforward: open simultaneous rallies and send millions of troops to fight for control of the castle.
More than five rallies were launched, and the question I kept asking myself was: would mml be able to hold it? The problem was that most of the rallies were infantry, so mml had a complete advantage over us as a cavalry player. I only had cavalry troops this time, so I sent my soldiers to GeorgeBylis’s rally.

The rallies were dealing heavy damage, and mml was struggling to hold. With each impact, the number of reinforcements dropped drastically. It felt like he would lose the castle at any moment, but the speed at which IFW kept sending reinforcements was a concern for our team. We needed a bit of luck and perfect timing, which meant launching our rallies right after mDB and YGI’s rallies hit. That way, we would face a weakened defense ready to give up the castle. And that is exactly what we did.
Five more rallies were opened, for the second time. But now, we were going to wait for the perfect moment to launch them. I sent my cavalry to George’s rally once again, and in less than three minutes, all rallies were launched at the same time.

And it worked exactly as we planned. The cavalry rallies hit first because they marched faster. Right after that, Tanalyn and baby hit together, and Tanalyn captured the castle. For the first time, we were in control of the Hall of Ages, but the number of reinforcements was concerning. It did not take long before notifications started popping up, and all four opposing teams were preparing rallies to attack us. I trusted Tanalyn’s strength, but we were at a significant numerical disadvantage. At no point did we have more than 25 reinforcements to defend the castle, and that was a big problem. On top of that, we were taking too long to resend reinforcements after each defended attack. I was ready to see Tanalyn lose the castle and return to square one once again.

But I was wrong, and to my surprise, Tanalyn managed to hold for more than eight minutes. However, even while winning every battle, defending the castle was becoming almost impossible. With each impact, we were losing millions of troops that took too long to replace. After a few minutes, we found ourselves weakened and vulnerable. From a distance, we could see four rallies heading straight toward us, including mml and Ledogi. At that moment, fewer than 10 reinforcements were defending the castle. I knew it would be impossible to hold and that we were about to lose control.

And that is exactly what happened when mml’s rally hit. It was at that moment that I realized Tanalyn and mml were the main names of that match, and that both of them would fight until the very end to win that war. Over the next thirty minutes, the castle changed hands more than twenty times. Ledogi, baby, and George even managed to capture it for a few minutes, but the real battle was between Tanalyn and mml.
The final 10 minutes were intense. Both sides had the same occupation time and were desperate to win. Tanalyn kept opening rally after rally while mml defended, and the opposite happened whenever Tanalyn captured the castle. Neither team could hold the Hall of Ages for more than a minute without being kicked out.

The final five minutes were intense. Tanalyn had exactly five minutes less occupation time than mml, which meant she needed to hold the castle until the very end of the match if she wanted to be the true champion. But there was still a strong chance that it would not be enough.
We used all our energy to defend the castle during those final five minutes, and with every rally, I healed my troops and sent them back again. It felt like an endless cycle, and I was burning through all my resources. And when the match ended, the result left everyone in shock.

With just a one-second advantage, Tanalyn surprisingly became the Champion City Siege winner, holding the Hall of Ages for nearly fifteen minutes. In the end, mml and Ledogi gave us a very hard fight, but everything worked out. I spent over a billion resources and lost more than four million troops, but it was absolutely worth it considering the number of tokens I earned. I will need a few weeks to recover everything, but that is fine. Thank you for reading this far!
