An Arena match decided by a singe hold.

1. Before the Clash

Two matches in a row, we had no real chance at the City of Glory.

The expectation was clear: please, no whale team.

The situation was quickly assessed. House Targaryen was familiar – unpleasant to play against, but predictable in their style.

House Lannister, on the other hand, was a different category. Strong accounts, but more importantly, difficult to assess.

We didn’t know their playstyle. It was unclear how structured they would be – or how effectively they would use their strength.

And that made them dangerous.

We also had a new member with us this time. Naturally, there was some uncertainty, especially considering the opponent setup and the importance of early decisions.

That was addressed immediately in Discord.

“Stay calm and follow the calls – we’ll handle everything else.”

The strategy was discussed together, and the direction was clearly defined for everyone: focus on the City of Glory.

Not as a risk, but as a conscious decision. We saw it as our best chance to actively shape the match.

The focus was clear.

Additional opportunities would present themselves during the match – the key would be to evaluate them correctly.

2. Under Pressure

The start was controlled.

The first clan building was secured, and we were able to establish our structure as planned.

Shortly after, an opportunity arose to take a second clan building.

A double-edged sword.

In the short term, it meant more points – especially with endgame glory points in mind, a clear advantage. At the same time, it tied up additional marches and required more attention.

That also put us increasingly into the focus of both opponents.

House Targaryen played out their expected style, while House Lannister actively worked to weaken us and position themselves for the City of Glory.

We were unable to push back either House Targaryen or House Lannister as planned and put them under pressure ourselves.

Instead, we were increasingly forced to react and lost the ability to actively control the match.

It was no longer a controlled game, but constant adaptation and readjustment. The plan remained – but was increasingly replaced by necessary improvisation.

As the match progressed, the situation escalated further.

We only managed to secure one out of three initial watchtower captures. For catapults, it was zero out of three – and afterwards, we had no access due to the lack of attack buffs.

The effects cascaded. Missing catapults increased the pressure even further and made every action more difficult.

We could keep up – but we could no longer dictate the game.

It became clear: if things continued this way, we would have a serious problem.

And possibly another disappointing result.

3. The Fight for the City of Glory

The City of Glory opened.

Biet went in immediately – and we were the first inside.

But there was no time for reinforcements, and we were quickly pushed out by a counterattack.

The exchange for the City of Glory had begun.

With the City of Glory now reinforced, our response was clear: two rallies. Xenia first, Biet shortly after – and we took the City of Glory again.

But the answer came just as quickly. Two enemy rallies hit with precise timing and pushed us out again – 25 seconds before the protection phase.

Open visors.

We went in again. Same pattern, same result. Couldn’t hold.

While we were fully committed to the City of Glory, House Targaryen continued to extend their control across the map and pulled further ahead.

We knew: without the City of Glory, we would finish this match in rank 3.

So, once again.

Xenia first, closely followed by Biet. Once again, we took the City of Glory.

Now it mattered.

All three catapults were firing continuously, steadily reducing our reinforcements.

Taube brought the commands:

“Full focus. Clean swaps.”

“Sarduka and Biff – pull out, heal, back in.”

“Charlotte, Casti – you’re next.”

The enemy rallies were on the move.

The impacts followed shortly after.

Biff didn’t have a full overview in that moment. Too much was happening across the map.

By the time the focus returned to the City of Glory, the final impact had already landed.

About 70 seconds left until protection.

Inside the City of Glory, it was essentially just Biet.

777,593 remaining troops.

No breakthrough.

We were still standing.

Now, no mistakes were allowed.

One more round of reinforcements from everyone.

The timer was running.

And this time, it was enough.

The City of Glory held.

Until protection.

4. Securing the Outcome

That was the objective achieved – not victory, but control over rank 2.

The focus shifted away from the City of Glory towards securing the result.

And here, we still had one final option.

Instead of continuing open fights, we shifted our focus to the mining sites of our three clan buildings to secure the necessary points.

The call came from Taube: “Everyone send one march to the mining sites.”

That allowed us to pull ahead and relieve the pressure on the map.

Map control was no longer decisive – only that House Lannister would not be able to secure the City of Glory again.

They took the City of Glory once more and reinforced it, but through the two rallies from Xenia and Biet, we prevented them from holding it.

In the end, time simply ran out to secure the City of Glory again.

Rank 2 secured.

With more glory points than rank 1.

5. Voices of the Battlefield

"Full focus. Every reinforcement counts."

"Clean swaps. No gaps."

"Go. Go. Go."

"Sarduka and Biff – swap now."

"Charlotte, Casti – you’re up."

6. Legend

In this arena, not every battle is decided by strength.

Some are decided by endurance.
