Alliance conquest is on again, soldiers from the realm have been called to the battlefield and both the Targaryens and the Lannisters are eager to defend their territories. On Targaryen side we have Zenith (XEN) fighting off DXX for the Lannisters. This is the second time XEN and DXX fight off in AC, it is also the third time they fight overall as they had a fierce match in SoW. Both previous matches ended up as wins for XEN who outplayed DXX thanks to their speed and their advantage in numbers. DXX will be sure to be yet again a very difficult opponent for XEN, surely the DXX players are ready to turn the tables and finally get a win against XEN. The latter on the other hand, prepare for a match they think already won thanks to the tactics they previously used. A bit of time had already passed since the last match against DXX though, who knows what new cards they might have up their sleeves.

As the countdown comes to an end, 8 players are in for XEN facing off only 5 players for DXX.

The battle starts and XEN successfully captures the Targaryen outpost and the Temple of the Mother. On the other hand, DXX are surprisingly fast at the start of this AC and capture the Tower of the Warrior as well as the Lannister outpost. This fast action from DXX is a first in the three bouts them and XEN fought. This pushes the XEN leadership to look at their players out of curiosity and they notice a huge improvement in their power since their last match. If DXX are this active the whole game, it promises to be interesting.

A lone attack from a XEN player allows them to take back the Tower of the Warrior, this attack was only supposed to give information regarding the stats of the DXX players. Info was a must seeing how much they had improved, the match wasn’t going to be as easy as XEN thought. Nonetheless, taking the Tower was a good thing and they were now going to protect it, or at least try to. The report from this battle informed XEN that their opponents now had T4s meaning this was going to be a real problem to deal with.

As the ports open up, XEN and DXX each get the furthest one away from them, Targaryen’s for DXX and Lannister for XEN. As this happens and XEN are distracted, DXX launch two vicious attacks on the Temple of the Mother and the Tower of the Warrior and easily take back the loosely defended buildings from XEN. This leaves XEN in a very unfavorable position as these buildings buffs added to the already very strong DXX members will make for a difficult or near impossible comeback.

A minute passes and XEN take back the Targaryen port from DXX. They are awfully quiet and do not move at all. Worse, for some reason they leave the Lannister outpost and the Tower of the Warrior. XEN uses that opening to take it back immediately and they see an attack coming towards it but it’s too late, the shield is up. Maybe they attempted to change the player holding the building but it didn’t work out well for them, it is great news for XEN though, or so they thought.

Whether it was intentional or not, the weird movements or rather no movements from DXX did a phenomenal job as a distraction and they take Casterly Rock as soon as it opens up.

After an enormous amount of attacks from XEN, N0mad is finally able to take back Casterly Rock from DXX but the attacks will come again as soon as the shield gets down. XEN must protect Casterly Rock in order to win this game.

The game is a close call, as the strongholds open up XEN are a little over 11,000 points while DXX are just under that mark, they are almost tied and every point counts. DXX leave the Temple of the Mother this time and at the same time their relentless raids allow them to take back Casterly Rock. The Targaryen stronghold is taken by XEN and the Lannister one is taken by DXX. This is a huge setback for XEN as a big part of their strategy when playing stronger enemies is using the strongholds’ regiments attacks as a stepping stone to get back important buildings like Casterly Rock.

The Xen troops are finally able to get back the Lannister stronghold from DXX. The latter are still controlling Casterly Rock but they have disbanded all other buildings they control, the mines will open up soon and XEN expect it to be the reason. They have been surprised enough for this match, they are now prepared and their fastest players are ready to take the mines as soon as they open.

AND THEY DO !!!!!!!!! The XEN players take the mines just before DXX gets there. As the mines are taken, XEN’s leadership opts in for a different plan; They’ll leave Casterly Rock (CR) to DXX and force their strongest player, the one currently holding CR, to be de facto out of the game since he won’t be able to attack any other building. At the same time, the strongholds will occupy DXX’s other troops thanks to the regiments attacking CR, they won’t have a choice but to continuously reinforce it while XEN empties out the mines. As swiftly as they took the mines, the remaining members of XEN fill up the mines to multiply the points per minute coming from them.

The game comes to an end and the XEN’s adapted tactic pays off as they win by more than 10,000 points over DXX once again. This marks the third win in events when facing off DXX. This may sound like total domination but because of their record XEN entered the game too arrogant and were quickly surprised by the progress the DXX members made. This will serve them as a reminder that yes XEN won every time but each and every single one of those three matches was a very hard fought battle and they should never take winning for granted. For DXX, it seems like though they got much MUCH stronger their team play still needs a bit of work and most importantly they lack in endurance. They struggle to end matches and it is what makes the difference in ones as close as this. Overall, it is a great lesson for both alliances and very great win for XEN.
