Wxd has made me appreciate being a winning alliance in Ultimate Conquest. The schedule is so much easier when you can skip some matches. The downside is you have some holes in your intelligence since you are missing some potential threats. I wasn’t sure what to make of our opponent 69M

Being in B league this season, you would think Skeeter wouldn’t face particularly difficult opponents. Yet all things are possible in the world of Westeros. I was not aware of the players themselves, but several of the accounts looked like they could give us trouble. Plus you HAVE to be a decent alliance to get this far in UC. Sure you can have some lucky matches in the beginning but as teams get eliminated those who have fought for it remain. It would be a mistake to assume we would win easily.

I jumped on the map, and began to wonder about all the things. How would our participation be? Would we still do well in the racing? If we wanted a chance at the finals we would have to do our best. As the match began it was clear we had the better participation. The initial races went well. We took everything. Not surprising as we excel at racing. No swaps were called, thank all the Gods lol. Our reinforcing felt a bit clumsy. We needed to find our rhythm. But right now we had to hold these buildings. It was when the bubbles dropped that the battle truly began. The enemy immediately began to launch attacks, looking for our weakness. Initially, we held up well. Reinforcing became smoother. We were doing alright. With so much of the match ahead of us I tried my best to stay focused.  We were not winning every fight, we didn't have too as long as we kept re-sending quicker than the enemy kept attacking.

Their accounts were so strong, It was a battle of wills as much as a battle between troops. I imagine 69m were going through exactly what we were. Both alliances had the finals on their mind as our fight raged on. It was then 69M got lucky and finally evicted us from the building.

Their reinforcements were so smooth, I admired the numbers and the speed at which they would fill the building. They had great teamwork. It felt like we were on the ropes. Sure it was only one building now, but the others will fall like dominoes if we dont pull ourselves together.

As the ports opened, we split them. 69Ms Capt Black had won his race.

While I know we cant win them all, I was beginning to feel panicked. Racing is one thing we always do well. Was the tide turning?

These fights became brutal and costly as we traded buildings. We would lose one, then fight to get it back to lose another. As the Castle opened, both sides sent their fasted to get that first capture… Again we lost the race…

Ok one race maybe but two? We needed to start pushing back and winning some fights if we were to stand a chance. We started trying to get the mother back.

After all with all these strong enemies with the big boy commanders launching non stop attacks, we would need all the help to lower the hospital bills that we could get. Before I knew it the bubbles dropped on the player castles, so I rushed in and began attacking.

One had come for me, but I won that fight. My confidence growing.

Yall have heard the phrase FAFO? Well yes I did as one of theirs came for revenge and smacked me into next week lol. 😂

I decided to go back to focusing on the buildings after the brutal loss. With each round of rallies, we got closer and closer to taking back the mother. Until finally it happened. JeyneX managed to grab the mother. Phew I thought at least I can afford to heal now.

“We are going to swap out for Odin” came the order. Oh FFS a swap? Now? I watched nervously looking for any signs of the enemy interrupting. Luckily our swap was timed perfectly. Odin took their place in the mother and we rushed in to fill before the enemy was any wiser.

This was going to come down to the mines I realized. Our scores were so close. If we manage to take both and hold them, we may win this. If we manage to take one and hold our territory we can win this. IF they get both mines, we will lose. The realization that all the work we have done, all the speed ups used could all be for nothing meant there was no more room for error. The points in the mines can go fast and many matches have been won or lost on these late buildings.

The mines finally opened, both sides throwing everything they had to get the prize that can decide the victor of this match. I could feel the grey hairs sprouting as I watched both sides converging on the mines.

OMG, we split. We have a chance, I thought.

The battles raged on both teams simultaneously attacking and defending mines, building anything that could get us points. When the battle had ended, I was scared to look. Covering my eyes, while trying to peek at the score.

We managed to win, but my goodness was that close. In a match like this, had we made just a couple more mistakes, I would have been crying in my cornflakes. We had better participation but the enemy was a lot stronger than we were, so that hardly moved the needle this match. We played well over all but as always there were things we needed to work on like smoother reinforcements. We certainly earned our break before the finals and one could argue we needed it. We would be facing our season nemesis SsT in the finals. Both teams having one win and one loss this season. May the odds be ever in our favor.
