After a few months of normal KvKs, if something like normal exists for KvKs, it was time for another no-death KvK, meaning all dead troops would return after the event ended. Ideal for testing a new account or a new lineup or commander. That testing can be in rallies, solos, or tanking of either, but a lot of testing had to be done for sure.

Hotep, playing his second KvK on k438 had quite a few things he wanted to test with his accounts. He wanted to test the strength of a PvP rally from his main account because, maybe surprisingly to some, he had not actually done that many PvP rallies with it, mainly sticking to either solos or joining others. Also, he hoped to maybe test his trapping abilities with his bowmen trap and maybe Hunger would get the same done with his account. Additionally, Alkalari was missing, so the KvK would basically be played just from DS and Hotep with help from a few others

So with some goals in mind and a further complication with their inf lead and prob their strongest account missing, Hotep looked forward to this KvK, staying up until 2 am local time to see the matchmaking and maybe get some early hour fighting, but his hope for that was short-lived. The enemy kingdom was k83 and their main alliance, CZC, was both small and European. So the small number of fighters may have been all asleep when the preparation phase ended. Hotep tried to bait a bit, taking enemy KL with his trap, but there was no reaction, so he went to bed himself and set his alarm so he would be on the next day to take castles with his friend DS if there was nothing else to do.

When the morning came, there was still no action from k83, so DS took k438 KL with his main and alts and Hunger, Hotep, his trap and Walleya, another friend, took the enemy KL with spear.

Hunger was weaker than Hotep and also weaker than Alkalari, but he had a unique advantage in being zero castle, so he could hide all his troops while his lord was outside, making holding castles with him very save unless there was someone on the enemy kingdom to solo him out of KL.

It just took them 20 minutes to take back the lead in ranking, which k83 was leading from gathering and one or two players from their side hitting a few accounts from k438 not aligned with their group.

And then… nothing happened for the next 3 hours. With their teams holding both KLs they had gotten more than twice the points from k83 by now, and the only enemies they had seen were a few scouting alts, sometimes attacking with low troop amounts to be annoying, but nothing more. No attacks. In a no-death KvK that was strange as they had nothing to lose, but before offering any friendly rallies, Hotep wanted to have their KL and their win save, so they kept going, distracting each other with jokes or doing other things like bounty quests.

Then, after 3 hours of nothing happening, finally there was an enemy in sight. A UTB player Hotep missed in his scouting at reset showed up taking a few castles where they had placed t1s for timer and to have them wounded to fill their hospitals.

And then, after another set of attacks from an alt with a few t3 that had made Hotep already worried, the hit came they had been waiting for:

Trying to distract with another attack, a real hit came on Hotep’s trap. This was his chance to test his trap and to finally get some action!

Sadly the attack was not a clear win for Hotep’s trap, but it was also no loss. [UTB]Spike used the same lineup Hotep had, with also running basically the same weapons and advisors and having basically the same stats. The only thing Hotep had on him were 2 stars on his Leila weapon. Against such a good lineup (Warning! Self-praise), Hotep’s trap of cause had a hard time, losing a lot of low-tier troops but in return dealing good damage, getting t5 into Spikes hospital. Who really won here is not clear, although Spike could heal most of the troops lost, so it was more sustainable for him than for the trap, and so Hotep ported it away and stopped using it, knowing that in a no-death KvK Spike with his new knowledge would just hit it again.

After this action, Hotep expected something more to happen, but nothing did. For 7 hours! CZC was just not doing anything. After 6 hours or so, Hotep had enough with their win secured and KL as well, so he asked for some friendly rallies to have a good end to this KvK. First, no one responded, and Hotep feared the one hit on the trap would be the only action. DS even went to sleep while having his main and alts still in home KL, but another 30 min later Spike responded, and so they arranged a rally on him setup by Hunger.

This was quite interesting for both sides. Hunger wanted to see how he would do against a good cav account with his slightly outdated account, and Spike wanted to see if he could beat a rally that countered him. After that first rally, it was Hoteps turn to rally him:

Hungers rally, although expensive, killed twice as much as he lost, which showed Hunger that his account could still do stuff, even against a decent inf back line. Spike did not want to take another spear rally, so instead Hotep rallied, and he was able to get a rally that was also a win, although much less successful as Hunger. Not surprising given how important counter is in combat still at their level. Hotep was very happy with this, as he had seen how close their 2 accounts were (just look at the lineup) and so wanted to see who would win in a battle, expecting a close result.

Those rallies were also the end of the KvK. No one from CZC ever showed up, but Spike made all up for it, allowing both Hunger and Hotep to test their accounts, even though DS might still be sad as he could not do much all day.

They even made the top 6 ranks all Rd3 with Spike coming in at rank 7. And Hotep got the top spot for the first time ever. Another great success and something marked as done on his bucket list. Although this KvK included a lot of waiting, it was worth it all in the end. Sometimes you just have to wait for your joy. Let's hope future KvKs on Hoteps now not so new kingdom would be as successful as this one, but maybe with a little bit more fighting…
