For the Arena Of Honor, we joined with Killshot and the gang. I think everyone was still frazzled from spamming attacks on the Night King. More than one of us had even gone back and forth on if we just wanted to skip a match or play a later slot. Eventually we figured we would just play and get it over with. Rip the bandaid as I like to say lol.

At least we would be with friends and only had to worry about one character. I let those wiser than me discuss the strategy.

Someone was assigned to the clan castle and once again we were house Baratheon

We rushed to complete the strongholds while waiting for the rest of the map to open. I had scanned around at the enemy and was pleased to see we had avoided whales. While I didn’t know if that meant we would win, we had a fighting chance.

I had been trying for altars with mixed results… Sometimes I would win

Sometimes people would kick my butt with Stoopid Cavs lol

Things were going smoothly, which is good because my mind was numb from Night King Shenanigans. I wasn’t paying attention to the things I was not assigned too. If my assistance was needed, I was sure the team would let me know. Vegeta was defending constant attacks on his altar of the warrior.

but he held on, and we would rush to reinforce as our troops dwindled down from the flurry of attacks. It was an important altar if we wanted to make a play for the clan castle.

I was causing trouble in the dragon pits and if I am to be completely honest, I am not sure why lol. I haven’t really noticed a tangible difference between holding a dragon pit or having none, aside from the first hold points.

I also managed to lose on the Dragon pits.... Say it with me Stoopid Cavs lol 😂

The City of Glory was about to open, so it was time for me to be on alert. I maybe needed to rally, to fill, to annoy and I needed to be ready for whatever. I had noticed that our mine was open but not taken so I sent my lord march there, we could start generating points now and if I had to switch later, I could. T H A Y with Nbe had taken the City of Glory and anyone who was not in the rally rushed in to reinforce.

T H A Y was a rockstar holding that castle, hit after hit. I was watching the timer tick down to the bubble, knowing I would need to refresh the troops once the city was protected.

I was so confident watching T H A Y defend the city, he seemed unbeatable. There were seconds left till I could refresh my troops. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…..

Wait what? I wasn’t sure what had happened, but it appeared like we abandoned the building before it was bubbled. I didn’t understand. T H A Y would not have made a rookie mistake like that, I sent a raven to Vegeta, “What is happening?” We literally had the building, and I have no battle reports showing T H A Y lost. I rushed my troops home and that is when I saw it…We had lost our clan castle. Suddenly it was beginning to make sense. If we don’t hold our clan castle we can’t take the city. I pulled my lord march from the mines and rushed them home. I didn’t scout, I just sent my Lord march to the clan castle, praying I could take it back. Who knew losing the clan castle would cause so many problems lol, we couldn’t even scout the new occupants in the City of Glory. I had to win this, failure was not an option.

Oh thank the Old Gods, I won. Now I had to hold it and bubble it so we were free to attack the city once again. Fun fact, this was my first time ever holding the clan castle lol. I took attacks from NPC’s and players alike, but I held on with everything I could. My team was depending on me. I felt like the only person freaking out over what had just occurred, so it was probably a good thing I was stuck in the castle. Killshot had no such worries, he had a certain quiet confidence about him as he called up a rally. We rushed in to join, everyone eager to hopefully reclaim the City once again and erase that lil hiccup from earlier.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS

He had reclaimed the throne for our house. Now was the hardest, most nerve-racking part. Holding it for the bubble, and heck the end of the match if possible lol. I definitely understood the pressure. Both of us were fending off constant attacks. If I can’t hold the clan castle, we lose the city. If he can’t hold the city, well same result. If we could manage to bubble it, our points standing would be a lot more solid. If we lose it, we could easily finish in last place. Killshot was doing a great job holding, deflecting off more hits than I could count.

Each time the enemy hit the clan castle, I tensed up. Even once we managed to bubble the City of Glory my nerves were stretched thin. Partially not knowing what to expect in the new clan castle assignment, partially knowing that even when you do everything right, you can still be beat. A win would be amazing, but I just hoped for any kind of positive finish.

At the end of the match, we still held the City of Glory. This allowed us a percentage of all the other clans points which rocketed us to a smooth 1st place finish. Despite the various hiccups we did incredibly well and had a good time doing it. It felt like a comfortable match that was not spent overthinking what we should do and who needed to do it. We all did what we had to when we could and our efforts were rewarded with a win.
