More benefits, more surprises
Introduction
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my series breaking down the many immortals in the game. Today, we will be taking a look at one of the original Chaos immortals, Wukong. When he was first introduced, his power was very underwhelming especially for a Chaos immortal, and was largely overlooked in favour of other immortals. However, after multiple buffs and the addition of many skills that benefit Wukong, he has slowly been climbing his way up the rankings, and may have finally managed to carve his own niche.

Wukong in Chinese Mythology
The myth of Wukong dates back hundreds of years, with its origin coming from Chinese mythology. He originates from the 16th century Journey to the West, where a monkey is born from a stone. He then acquires supernatural powers through Taoist practices, and becomes the king of monkeys. Although Wukong is a work of fiction, its roots are actually based on a real Buddhist monk’s travels tracking down holy texts.
How to Obtain
Just like every other chaos immortal, Wukong and his exclusive artifact can usually only be obtained through the Chaos Roulette event, although some seasonal events also give chaos immortal selection chests that include his immortal fragments. This makes him an expensive purchase for anyone looking to obtain him.
Ultimate Skill
Wukong has a very unique set of abilities. On top of being able to deal large amounts of damage, he is also able to gain the absolute defence effect. This gives him immunity to some damage, greatly increasing his ability to survive even without the help of another support immortal. In addition, this effect can also extend to another immortal with the highest troop loss. This allows him to protect allied immortals on top of protecting himself, while also being able to deal massive amounts of damage, making him a well rounded immortal.
Sometimes, Wukong alone is able to defeat entire enemy teams. He is able to deal large amounts of damage, but more importantly, is also able to block incoming damage. This allows him to avoid taking damage while being able to deal damage himself, which sometimes results in solo victories.
Recommended Skills
One common set of skills for Wukong is the ramping damage build including Battle Stance and Demonic Contract. By pairing Wukong with other support immortals to protect him, he is able to survive for longer, giving time for Battle Stance and Demonic Contract to reach their full effect. This gives Wukong massive amounts of damage which few enemies are able to withstand.
Another common set of skills for Wukong is the utilisation of Last Stand and Unyielding. Since Wukong does increased damage when he is below 70% health, he fits perfectly with Last Stand and Unyielding, both of which activate when the immortal is below 70% health. Last Stand reduces Wukong’s damage taken and increases his damage dealt, while Unyielding gives a health recovery rate of 30% and increases critical rate by 50%. All these effects work perfectly with Wukong’s ultimate skill, drastically boosting his damage and survivability and damage once he drops below 70% health.
Team Compatibility
These are two examples of teams with Wukong being the sole damage dealer on the team. All 3 other immortals are able to provide support, healing him and reducing his damage taken while he ramps up his damage. Once enough time has passed, he is able to deal massive amounts of damage that few teams can withstand. In addition, his ultimate also allows him to protect himself in the event that the other immortals are unable to do so, making him very difficult to kill.
Another team gaining popularity is this burst march with Wukong. In this case, Loki and Anubis deal damage alongside Wukong, allowing the team to quickly deal large amounts of damage. With this team, the enemy does not have a chance to slowly ramp up their damage, and any initial damage that the enemy deals can be negated by Wukong’s ultimate skill.
Epilogue
Despite Wukong being in the game for over a year, he has never seen much widespread use. That may be about to change, as with his many recent buffs, he has quietly risen up the rankings. In addition, with the addition of Ninetails, who counters Poseidon, Wukong might finally be able to outshine Poseidon and become the dominant chaos immortal.
