💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield(IB) series where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom that players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the match between Server 209’s Winters Vengeance(WV) and Server 277’s What The Foxxx(WTF). WV’s positions in this match will be denoted in yellow while WTF’s will be in red.

💠Overview
WV is a rebuilding server that boasts several strong players but lacks the numbers. They haven’t had much success in IBL but will be looking to change that this season. Since the KvK season just ended, WV will be recruiting more players to join its ranks. WTF is a comparatively young server that typically has the same number of players playing IBL week to week as WV. Both teams don’t have that much experience playing a winning style of IBL so their games should be messy and fun.
💠Starting Positions and Talents
WV
- Started with 22 players and ended with 27
- 10 Attack talents
- 11 Defense talents
- 1 Support talents
WTF
- Started with 25 players and ended with 33
- 4 Attack talents
- 19 Defense talents
- 2 Support talents
💠Tower 1
Both alliances relocated eight players to Tower 1. A couple of WV’s relocations were extremely aggressive, trying to invade WTF’s side of the tower. WTF had one player overlapping two others and a couple of their relocations were also too far into WV’s territory. The teams’ inexperience with relocations is evident. The red team should occupy the spaces to the left and bottom of the tower while the yellow team should take the top and right sides of the tower. The aggressive relocations are prone to getting destroyed. Both teams would benefit from the use of markers.
💠Tower 4
WV sent six players to Tower 4 and WTF sent nine. Both teams’ relocations were far more measured and organized than their counterparts at Tower 1. Whereas WV was too aggressive at Tower 1, they were too passive at Tower 4. Since the yellow team always has the positional advantage at Tower 4, they should leverage the edge spawns to block multiple relocations from WTF on their sides of the tower. WTF did a good job securing at least three out of four adjacent tower spots.
💠Central Tower
WV sent five players to the center and WTF sent four. The relocations in the center don’t really matter as much as the side towers as long as players are next to their teammates and as close to the tower as possible. The distance across the tower is usually too large to destroy relocations.
💠Altars
Both teams sent one player to their respective altars.
💠Home Towers
WV had one guard at their tower while WTF had two at theirs.
💠Play-By-Play
At Tower 1, WV canceled one of their own relocations and destroyed two enemy relocations. WTF also canceled their own that was overlapping two others and destroyed one enemy relocation. That gave WV a seven-to-four advantage with some members with WTF split up. WV quickly zeroed one before capturing the tower at six minutes. WTF sent more players to the tower and WV did a poor job of blocking or destroying their relocations. They also allowed a straggling WTF player to regroup with his teammates. Instead of staying still, WV players on the second row needed to surround the tower on all sides so they could secure the tower and also get closer to the WTF relocations so they could destroy them easily. By ten minutes, WV cleared most of the players from the area, but they should have started rotating to another tower several minutes prior.
At Tower 4, WV destroyed one relocation, but they were severely outnumbered and WTF knew it. WTF easily captured the tower by five minutes and worked to rally WV. WTF kept sending reinforcements that died at Tower 1 to Tower 4, but WV wasn’t getting any. By 15 minutes, WTF had complete control of the tower. WV should have started moving toward the center as soon as they could. WTF captured the tower so early and had an overwhelming advantage that WV needed to realize the tower was already lost with no way to reclaim it.
In the center, both teams traded rallies and attacks from each side of the tower until several WV players decided to move to WTF’s side of the field. The battle was fairly even until more and more WTF players showed up. WTF had more players at the start of the game and WV had more players suck in their spawn so eventually WTF started outnumbering WV. WTF needed to do a better job of surrounding the tower when they had momentum and numbers. It took them nearly 20 minutes to establish control and capture the tower. By the time they took the center, WTF created a 16,000-point lead.
WTF did a cheeky move where one player moved between WV’s home tower and altar at the start. WV’s guard didn’t notice and by the time his relocation cooldown was up, he moved to WTF’s altar, giving up their home tower to the three invaders. WTF essentially won the early game completely off of this blunder. WV didn’t send anyone back to Tower 2 until nearly four minutes later. It wasn’t until 25 minutes when they recaptured the tower, but by then, WTF had a 20,000-point lead.
Hilariously, at the same time, WV started relocating to WTF’s home tower at 12 minutes while WTF had five players in spawn. Instead of moving to defend their home tower, WTF players relocated elsewhere. As soon as WTF zeroed one, two more WV members showed up and they zeroed the enemies when WTF failed to destroy their relocations. WV stole the tower at 22 minutes.
By 30 minutes, WTF was already in a position to reclaim their lost home tower. Even if WTF didn’t retake their home tower, WV was only generating a net value of five points per second, but they were behind by 18,000 points. They would need an entire hour to make up the difference and break even. The only way they can win is if they recapture the center within five minutes. Unfortunately, WTF had too many players defending the center for WV to zero. WV lost both Towers 1 and 3 while going for the Central Tower and lost any hope of winning.
💠Summary
WTF’s coca was the match MVP as they won the match with 100,000 points to WV’s 47,300. Both teams’ relocations at Tower 1 left a lot to be desired. They sorely need a commander who is capable of marking positions for their teammates to follow. Having a good start at Tower 1 is essential for the red team as good yellow teams will likely win Tower 4 just by using their better spawns. Both teams need to do better to surround the tower when they start zeroing enemies. WV’s rotations are extremely poor and slow. Their defense at their home tower is nonexistent and their retake execution didn’t come until over five minutes later. They need to surround secured towers with four or so players and make the rest move around the map. WTF did well to reinforce the center when they lost Tower 1 and secured Tower 4. They also capitalized really quickly on WV’s blunder at the home tower. Both teams have players who need to understand the basics better if they want to make it further into the tournament, but WTF has a good starting point.
