The Road to Siege of Winterfell Winners
Siege of Winterfell has returned, with new synergies including Sarerer, Vorian and Cassana in play this time, the game has changed and the fight for dominance will start again. This season there are 4 main contenders, WxC, BaN, Nbe & HOH. These alliances have proven their strength in coordination and accounts, able to content in these battles.
Siege of Winterfell is in many cases a very one sided event, with one team being able to dominate the map and control the narrative, however there is the occaisional match which goes down to the wire, and is decided in a few key seconds. For teams of this size coordination is an essential element of success, being able to deploy the 300 available marches in a smart way will gain large advantages.
Ban vs FFS was our exciting match of the season so far, we had a round 1 matchup in which BaN dominated the field in the first test of strength. Now its round 5 and FFS is better prepared and wants to put up a fight, while BaN on the other hand brings 7 less players than in the first round, totalling only 92 members. FFS with 97 had an advantage, however the account power advantage was still with BaN given the higher alliance score.
Additionally, the Elimination race was another sidequest that has been ongoing throuhgout the season. For most games the only challenge is for the whales which are hunting top kill rankings to find targets to kill. In this match Benni, Falconn and Tholking would be the main elimination hunters. As the timer ticked down the forces prepared to rush for the first fights which always occur at the Armory and Hot Springs. BaN put more of the powerful accounts to attack armory while FFS chose to prioritize hot springs for the early heal. As a result BaN slowly overcame the forces FFS had sent to the armory, before long securing the building and finishing off the remaining soldiers. The BaN forces pushed forward to reach the outpost as it opened. On the Hot Springs side progress was a lot slower, both FFS and BaN reinforcements which had respawned after dying in the initial fight made it back to the Hot Springs, and from there BaN was able to secure it, though the continious flow of FFS reinforcements made the right side of the map a challenge to handle.
As MightyLemon and the left side forces progressed FFS reinforcements became less and less strong, reaching the outpost the BaN forces encountered another wave of resistance and a second large fight ensued, the battered BaN forces were not able to push with full force but as their own reinforcements arrived slowly the tide turned, FFS matches started falling and the occupation for BaN began, soon it turned blue and the remaining FFS armies were slaughtered with the pincer movement of the BaN armies.
The score stands quite even as the first package spawns – its still anyones game, BaN prioritizing the occupation of winterfell secures the first capture, but meanwhile FFS has claimed back the armory and hot springs, allowing for a refresh of their armies at full force to begin their wave of recaptures. They even push ahead to our right side outpost, where we plan to deliver the package, our refreshed marches are all directed there ahead of the package unit to secure it for a smooth delivery. The fight was bloody and FFS started with a high number of initial marches, but as our respawn march time was very short in comparison we quickly were able to get enough reinforcements there to turn the tide.
As we approached the final two minutes there was a last package at play and while having a lead of 20;000 points in BaNs favor even if WTF managed to secure it, it would not be enough. However, with a heroic effort FFS forces were able to steal the package and push far enough away from the outpost where it needed to be delivered that the time ran out and the pacakge did not end up getting delivered – meaning BaN would not secure full rewards for this match, a strong achievement for FFS who had been the best competition all season. With this match both teams head into the 6th round hoping for their seat in the finals – for BaN they are pushing to retain their first place rankings for optimal setup going into the playoffs season.
MightyLemon and the BaN forces returned home not fully positive, they had expected another rollover like in round 1, but a good wake up call that full participation was needed to have dominating victories, preparing them for the playoffs to come where they would face the likes of Nbe, HOH & WxC with very strong rosters.
