Dear all,

today I will take you back to the very beginning of the new season of the Siege of Winterfell when SFu played against COU. It was the very beginning of the new season so everyone was quite enthusiastic about the new start. To me, Lux Crownguad, this was the fresh start well as I just recently came to SFu from EmP. The very first time playing cross server event with my new alliance and the new crowd.

From the early start both SFu and COU had very similar alliance scores however the participation of the SFu was quite higher since we had 79 players going against 40 COU members. However, this being the very first match we did not want to underestimate the enemy so we have all joined in full forces. As always, we have two different teams attacking two different sides of the map, one for the Armoury and another one for the Hot Springs. Special team of Cav players is always separately headed to the Winterfell.

Both Armory and Hot Spring teams successfully captured the buildings and in no time we were already at the enemy side of the map. Heavily outnumbered, the enemy had to pull back to their outposts and strongholds whilst trying to resist the heavy attacks coming from our team. Few of the opponent players were trying to fight back but with no success. In order to obtain some elimination points we have completely pushed the enemy to their bases where we were fighting the few brave ones.

As the Winterfell package was about to appear, our cav team was already waiting for it. SFu pembaa, T5 cav player, equipped with gathering gear, has already grabbed the resources and successfully delivered them to one of the our bases. The resources kept appearing and we were managing to escort every single one of them without the resistance from the enemy.

The whole map was in “blue” colour while the points gap already increased to more than 60 000 points difference. With only 20 minutes left until the end of the match, the outcome was already certain.

After the points showed the number of 80 000 out leadership has decided for everyone to pull back and allow the enemy to obtain some points by re-capturing all the buildings and escorting the last two round of the Winterfell resources in their favour. As it was decided, we have pulled our armies from every single castle and we were just waiting since when it comes to these type of matches, where the enemy is outnumbered, it is truly a challenge to obtain some elimination and the healing points. However, after getting some of the points and some of the buildings the enemy was also having fun as they decided to fight us back.

The rule was to stand close to the cities but outside of the circles so that the enemies still have the opportunity to keep their buildings while we keep getting our elimination points.

For myself, LuxCrownguad, a bow main player, events like these are quite convenient since the bows can easily reach the target without me taking a lot of damage. My formation usually has Cersei-Theon-Sansa in one army, Melisandre – Kravars – Simon for the 2nd army and Leila – Annie and Sheila as the 3rd army. These formations so far worked very well in the history of my Siege of Winterfell matches regardless of the opponent I had to face. Overall, my alliance SFu does not overall have many bow players hence the double the fun for me.

Eventually as the time was passing by, we were trying to help the enemy reach the mark of 20 000 points, however, everyone fighting back has now increased the number of our points to 88000 while enemy was getting close to 20 000. At one point, our Cav player pembaa even help them escort the last round of the Winterfell resources.

The time was up and as expected we have won this match with not many efforts. The COU alliance unfortunately did not reach the mark of 20 000 points but regardless they wished us luck for the rest of the season.

The player of the match for SFu was the strong cav player VladanSRB meanwhile for COU it was IceMan7 who even had more total elimination points than VladanSRB in general.

Opening the season with the win brought many positive vibes and cheers in our alliance as we were very motivated and optimistic about this season in general. We were hoping for another ‚easier match‘ in the round 2 that could potentially bring us another victory and place us in the Top 50 alliances in the Super League, an achievement that we were all longing for.

For me, personally, this match was not just highly enjoyable thanks to the positive result but also the fact that I really had so much fun playing with the new alliance and the new crew and of course trying my best to find that perfect bow player commander combination for SoW that will significantly increase my chances against the enemy.

Just like everyone, I was also expecting Round 2 with high anticipation hoping that we will ride together to yet another victory.

To be continued…

Yours Truly,

LuxCrownguad
