What’s up, folks? With so many new events and patches, coupled with lots of community chatter, it’s sometimes difficult to keep up. Welcome to my weekly edition of Player’s Digest, where I’ll take a look at some of the recent happenings, summarize them in a digestible way, provide some context and thoughts, and help readers keep up with all things related to Infinity Kingdom.

💠Illusion Battlefield League

The third week of the IBL playoffs concluded today, eliminating another 16 alliances from the tournament. The 16 teams remaining on the Gold side of the bracket had the week off, while the 32 teams on the Silver side battled to keep their seasons alive. Most of the results went as expected based on the strength of the teams involved, although some of the pre-match wager odds did not necessarily reflect the actual favorites.

In Group 1, SJ and W2F knocked out LS and EP, respectively, in one-sided matches.
In Group 2, VW upset XGV and MESS obliterated GOW.
In Group 3, GOD beat MDS and CD defeated VS.
In Group 4, ICE defeated TOS and HK defeated HMB despite many players betting that HK would lose.
In Group 5, HVN and DOOm defeated KILL and VNM, respectively, in lopsided matches.
In Group 6, RH and NB defeated BDE and TDC.
In Group 7, WIB defeated OR. Server 468 defeated DRO.
In Group 8, DH and XY beat BTE and TA, as expected.

💠Legion of Frostborne

Level 17 cities became available in Legion of Frostborne this week, but much of the attention has already shifted toward preparing for the Level 18 city race opening early next week. Alliances are heavily focused on increasing their Craftsmen and Alchemists levels to craft the strongest altars possible, as the race for Level 18 cities generally comes down to which faction can destroy the two city cores first. In most brackets, the alliances within each faction are cooperating through federations or non-aggression pacts, allowing them to concentrate their resources on the upcoming race. However, a few factions are dealing with interference from secondary alliances belonging to their own servers, creating internal complications that could potentially hurt their chances when the Level 18 cities open. In Region 53, Server 136’s SKY is making life difficult for Server 209’s HK and Ember. HK tried to propose a pact with SKY, but SKY rejected it so they will terrorize the faction for a while longer.

💠Horus and Psionic Vortex

A first look at Horus reveals an incredible 153 base Energy Regeneration, the highest of any Immortal currently in the game and nearly double Loki’s 80. Horus also has higher base stats than Loki across the board except Critical Hit, making him naturally tankier even before accounting for his 5% Max HP damage cap. More importantly, that massive Energy Regeneration should allow Horus to cast significantly more Ultimates during a typical 55-second battle, which synergizes extremely well with Psychic Vortex. While Loki generally casts around five to six Ultimates and needs to lose roughly 20–30% of his HP alongside those casts to fully stack Psychic Vortex, Horus should be able to reach maximum stacks faster while sacrificing less HP. Between his superior survivability, faster Ultimate cycling, and easier Psychic Vortex stacking, Horus has the potential to become a legitimate replacement for Loki in Chaos mage compositions.

💠Summary

The IBL playoffs eliminated another 16 alliances as the Silver bracket continued while Gold teams rested. Legion of Frostborne factions are preparing their strongest altars for the upcoming Level 18 city race. Horus’s exceptional Energy Regeneration, survivability, and synergy with Psychic Vortex could make him a legitimate replacement for Loki.
