Hotep was very happy with how the Champion City Siege time worked out. He was not at home, so he only had his laptop, and the upcoming Sunday would be full of outside activities, not giving him a chance to play CCS. Beforehand, he had basically given up on the chance to play CCS in June. There was literally only one, maybe 2 time slots he could play all day.
And as the old gods wanted it, the reset, the one time he could play for sure, was the map he got. And even better was that he did not have to search for a team either. The reset map included BDR’s main kingdom with a lot of big accounts like Rock and Thinking, but also Hotep’s friends, Grom and Makima.

Very tired, but looking forward to actually playing this CCS, Hotep ported on the map early and quickly got surrounded by allies. Him sitting next to all the whales in the front row, right between Makima and Grom, was a bit weird, but well, he would at least have a nice view from here on the battlefield.
With the team they had, it was clear they were the favorites. But during Hotep’s very limited scouting, he had seen a few strong rally leads and even some NBe leads, including Barbarossa, so Hotep was still hoping for some action.
ImperialRock went in first with spearmen; the troop type Hotep had the least. Nbe was still not on the map, so Hotep started to get worried. Some people claimed NBe had a habit of showing up late, crashing the party, but this was just too late…
Hotep did not want to give his hope up, but after NBe still was not there 5 and then 10 minutes later, he had to give up. At that point, he had not gotten a single report yet, but he had not tried much since he was still waiting for more enemies to appear. Now that he knew no more were coming, he had to change strategy. Usually he sent only t3, sometimes even t1, but to get into the battles, his marches needed a lot more power.
Luckily for Hotep, this was not the first time running CCS, and so he knew that he had to stay on the thin line between high power and losing too many t5 on defenses.

Soon after Hotep adjusted his presets and went in with a good amount of t5, he would get his first report, where Rock annihilated a full cav rally, which was likely just to farm bravery tokens.

Not every rally on Rock was dying, though. Hank Taiwan was the biggest threat so far and Hotep had to be careful that his t5 troops were not caught by him.
Besides Hank, Hotep did not mind tanking the rest, though, especially since most of them died without doing too much.

Even other Jaqen inf accounts were not enough to beat the maxed account in the center.
Hotep kept going in and out and started to stockpile elims. This was the only way he could play without more rallies winning on Rock and with his low spear count, but it worked very well. After 25 min, he had enough tokens to fully buy 256 inf badges from tokens, leading to him slowing down.
A few minutes later, Rock had his first place secured.

Their swap did not work as planned, but Tholking still got in quickly. Since Euron was still the only commander of the newest generation, Tholking was also running the same spear lineup as Rock, not great for Hotep, but at this point he had gotten his elims already.

That did not stop him from checking out reports, though, seeing the same leads die to Tholking, which had died to Rock previously.
After the second place was secured as well, the third spot was still available, and Makima volunteered to take it. Unlike the other two, Makima was inf, so they would actually see a swap in troop type at last.

Makima would only stay for one minute, though, since that's all it needed, and they did not want to let a specific cavalry lead to get a winning report; they disbanded on them. Rock had prepared for this disband, to quickly snipe it back, holding it until the end. So much for changing troop type, but judging by his tokens, Hotep could not complain.

Hotep had gotten more than enough, especially since he had not thought to even make it to the CCS. He did not have many spear troops because of that, but he adapted to the strong team to still get what he needed.
In the end, their team secured the top 3 spots without issues, but Hotep still had fun chasing his own elims and watching rally after rally bounce on Rock. He was hoping for a harder map for their next CCS battle, though…
