Spring was still lingering in Westeros, but that night was so hot, NOX warriors were worried they might pass out if they fought in full armour. However it could not be helped. They were getting ready to play their fifth game in the twenty third season of Alliance Conquest against OBV, an alliance they knew well.

NOX had a great season so far, with four wins and only one defeat, but as they hoped to qualify for Ultimate Conquest it meant they had to play the best they could and win with as big a margin as possible.

You hear that Belore? That means no giving buildings or points again, said ChristianOr addressing their strategist. She could never resist a dig at him, and she was referring to their last season game with OBV where Belore had decided to help OBV get more points.

If you were not so clueless, you would know that is not even possible, he replied with a little snark of his own, which disappeared as he went on, his worry about NOX prevailing. OBV merged with CXI, and they are a lot stronger now, he continued. We will be hard pressed to win, let alone talk about points.

All too soon, it was time to enter the battlefield and ChristianOr could feel her heart racing even before the racers set off. She was looking at Mother, which she was supposed to counter rally, and which to her dismay turned red.

Luckily for NOX all the other three buildings were won by NOX racers, which meant NOX had the attack buff.

We will swap Strandli into Warrior, Belore was saying. Send inf and we disband in three two one…

Chris immediately sent a big march, and it was at the nick of time as OBV started soloing Lord Strandli immediately.

Ay, that is not nice, i barely got in, laughed Lord Strandli but he laughter was caught short, as he alerted that he was being rallied. No one needed to be told how important it was to keep Warrior and all got ready to defend as an avalanche of rallies hit. Lord Strandli seemed to be holding his own, which misdirected his defenders, losing the building at the last rally.

The attack buff advantage was lost for NOX and Dr.GreenThumB set up residence there.

OK people, Belore said sounding cheerful, since Warrior is bubbled let’s see if we can get Mother. Rally up.

In record time nineteen rallies were set up and filled. Just like OBV had done, NOX also unleashed them and sped them up, and Mother’s defense crumbled leaving Sir Coppard holding the building.

And just before ports were to open, Vergo compounded their success by managing to solo and win Warrior, leaving NOX in control as ports were about to open.

The racing was balanced with NOX and OBV winning one port each. And like having a gentleman’s agreement they both proceeded to swap the buildings leaving lord Strandli holding Lannister port while Dr. Green ThumB had the Targaryen Port.

Be caref.. Warrior warrior, warrior, Belore called frantically, but it was too late, once more Warrior fell.

Belore debated between cancelling the rallies he had for the Targaryen port and remaking them for the Warrior but then he decided to give it a try anyway, even without the attack buff. His risk paid off, as Grogu captured the port.

Casterly Rock opened, and at that crucial moment, the NOX racer won. They proceed to a fast swap for Balrum, and fearing solos, immediately reinforced him.

Smiles appeared on the NOX side of the battlefield and it was the first time since they had started that ChristianOr breathed a little easily.

Let’s rally that Warrior and seal the deal, shall we? Said Belore smiling. NOX rallies set off, but OBV defended heroically.

Outpost, breathed Scythe, the Duchess, but it was too late. Now for the first time OBV had the advantage of the attack buff.

OBV immediately launched rallies for Casterly Rock. Belore called but everyone already had sent a line to defend. Smiles had disappeared and the tension was obvious.

First wave hit, and second and CR held. But OBV was determined. They set off for the third time, and somewhere NOX’s defense faltered. It was enough. CR fell.

OBV proceeded to swap their strongest lead inside. Big Angry. The point advantage was not for OBV.

Belore surveyed the situation quickly. CR would be more difficult and decided to call for rallies on the port that had passed once more to OBV hands, in order to regain the ppm for NOX.

Simultaneously, OBV called for rallies on Strandli’s port, and with a sinking heart, ChristianOr saw NOX losing the second port too.

We are done for, this is it, she thought grimly. OBV had a staggering amount of 800 points per minute. She thought she would panic, but suddenly she felt very calm. Or they came back from this, or it was the end.

Launch the port rallies, Belore said, his voice totally expressionless. Rallies set off and it was Balrum who captured the building.

At the same time, Hotepra spoke up.

I got Warrior, he said simply. They all knew he would not be able to hold for long, so they needed to be fast.

Rallies to CR, now.

Maybe it is not a good thing Balrum got the port just now, whispered Strandli to ChristianOr for once worried. He is our strongest infantry.

Strandli’s worries were justified. Their rallies barely made a dent.

We try to keep what we have, Belore decided. Trying to get Casterly seemed an impossible task, and the effort might cost them the rest of the NOX buildings.

Will it be enough? ChristianOr asked him anxiously.

We will find out soon enough, I guess.

NOX and OBV, were fighting over the Outposts and Warrior continuously and brutally. The buildings kept flashing and changing owners so many times, ChristianOr felt she was living in a dream where all she did was heal and fight, heal and fight.

Mines were looming closer and NOX holding a very small point advantage, tooth and nail, mathematically needed one mine to win. The racers sped immediately and mirroring the ports, each got one. Buzka the Targaryen mine, and KM the Lannister one.

Belore swapped himself in the Lannister Mine, and once more OBV chose DrGreenThumB

We defend? Lord Strandli asked

Haven’t you heard Lord Strandli that the best defense is the offense? Asked Belore. Rallies on Targaryen mine.

Lord Strandl and ChristianOr exchanged looks but neither dared to voice their objection. The prudent course of action would be to focus on Belore’s mine alone, but distracting OBV with defending might help them to keep their own more easily.

Rallies were swift and brutal, and to his enormous surprise and relief. Lord Strandli ended up holding the Targaryen mine.

OBV now was the one to rally, even faster.

Just this once, you beautiful bastards, keep him inside, just once tonight, Belore instructed his warriors or prayed, no one could tell the difference.

Rallies were upon them and NOX was sending again and again. Strandli for the first time that night and the only one that mattered, he held.

It was over. NOX had won. With the skin of their teeth, but they had. OBV reached sixty thousand points, and then something unexpected happened. All the buildings that OBV still had were disbanded.

ChristianOr looked in amazement, not believing her own eyes. OBV was helping NOX  get as many points they could from their encounter.

Look at their motto, Strandli said.

“North remembers, and so do we”. And it looked like they really did.

When the match ended, everyone collapsed from exhaustion and relief.

I really hope we make it after this, Hotepra said panting for breath.

We will, Lord Strandli, the eternal optimist said. I hope OBV makes it also,

Did OBV’s gift help NOX make UC? Did OBV manage to overcome the impediment of the defeat and qualify themselves?  Stay tuned for the next stories to find out…..
