Spring in Westeros was rapidly approaching its end, and that afternoon that was scheduled to host the fifth match of WXD in the twenty third season of Alliance Conquest was so sweltering hot, it was hard to believe summer had not arrived yet.

MAJOr kept wiping his face with his sleeve and was hard pressed to remember who they were supposed to face.
For real, MAJOr? Have you not read the announcements or the individual ravens that were sent? Azuraz, who was a council member, was hardly concealing her disappointment.
MAJOr shamefaced (especially when chastised by a pretty lady) wracked his brain.
TFI, he yelped, we are facing TFI, and he prayed he was correct.

The deities of Westeros took pity on him, and indeed WXD was scheduled to fight against TFI. As WXD had already faced TFI once this season and had prevailed, they felt that an easy game was in store for them.
We are getting close to the finals and Ultimate Conquest, the WXD strategist addressed them. For better or for worse, our team has not been tested this season at all, but all our main opponents have faced difficult matches. I want you to be very focused tonight and try to prepare for what we will be facing in a few days. Now let's go out and do our very best!!
Enthusiastic clapping followed his words, and WXD warriors marched in the battlefield. TFI seemed to be taking this battle as seriously as WXD was, having brought in almost the same number of warriors as their opponents had.
Absolute silence had engulfed both camps which was bokeh by the sound of the trumpet that signaled the beginning of the fight. WXD’s racing this season had been stellar, and when the dust settled MAJOr saw that they had once again made a very good start, capturing three of the four initial buildings. Strawberry had Mother, Light Yagami Warrior and tmoe Targaryen Outpost, ceding only the close outpost to Lilaccat of TFI.

Excellent, the WXD strategist called, sounding fairly pleased with his team. We can keep the rest so let’s proceed in swapping tmoe in three two one, disband and gooooo……
The slowmarcher went, but so did Zacherry of TFI who intercepted the swap.

Damn, we lost the building, Azuraz gasped.
Yeah, sadly Zacherry was faster, the strategist said.
I am talking about Mother, she replied.
Flabbergasted, the strategist turned towards Mother. How on earth was Strawberry kicked? The only explanation standing to reason is if Mother had not been reinforced, at all.

The points per mean advantage and attack buff were all for TFI. The strategist turned to his warriors.
My friends, this is not how a UC alliance looks like, I am sorry to tell you. Please show me that we can turn this, and that we will be ready for when our time comes. Let’s rally Lannister Outpost.
Obediently the WXD rally leads opened their rallies swiftly.

MAJOr determined not to mess up, easily found his rally leads and even helped fill some other rallies. The rallies set off and were sped up to hit the outpost as quickly as possible. TFI did not manage to reinforce against this onslaught, and wangchuang ended up holding the building.

One down two to go, the strategist said. We could rally but might make us late for ports.
Do not worry, my friend, here is where the rally leads will go solo and fast. We will get you Mother, the leader of the rally leads promised.
True to their words the rally leads soloed Mother mercilessly. TFI was reinforcing, but the WXD warriors had a promise to keep, and sped back, hit and sped back again in a frenzied rhythm.

TFI losing hope, decided to disband on someone weak, so they could recapture it later, but their plan did not work that well as Tavanic ended up holding Mother.
The ports bubbles’ fell and racers left as if on fire. MAJOr was overjoyed to see that the fruits had managed to do very well with Strawberry capturing Targaryen port, while Banana had taken Lannister port.

I know Strawberry can hold, when reinforced, but let us swap bzzb in, as we need to make sure we can do this fast.

MAJOr was not fond of running but as Targaryen port was very near the TFI hive, he sped as much as his old bones allowed him. He managed to get in from the very first, and not a moment too soon as TFI had started soloing, hoping that WXD reinforcers would be again slow like they had been in Mother.

Good job lads, the strategist called satisfied and his satisfaction was augmented as WXD won also the Casterly Rock race with Strawberry.

All this was fine, but MAJOr was started to worry he would never get into a good fight. He cast his eyes around and noticed that Lady Guavaa in Lannister Stronghold was reinforced only by two people, and without hesitating sent his soldiers to join her. MAJOr was a wily soldier and his instincts were proven right, TFI chose to attack the most vulnerable target.

Luckily for MAJOr Lady Guavaa was made of stern stuff, able to withstand the barrage of solo attacks.
Finally I can rest, MAJOr thought but once more he heard their strategist entreating them to show their best potential. MAJOr sighed, he would need to postpone his nap, since mines were coming up.
He focused, ready to reinforce or fill rallies, whichever would be asked of him. Both mines were won by WXD, and Targaryen mine which was won by SlowPanda, who was anything but slow would need to be swapped.

Raimekult was swapped in, and MAJOr rushed to reinforce him. TFI threw everything they had, hoping to gain the mine.
Help him please, Azuraz entreated, and MAJOr kept healing and resending. They were getting hurt badly, but WXD was determined to keep Raimekult there.

Dazed MAJOr ran to the mine again and again, until he heard their strategist say that Targaryen mine was empty of points and they could finally let go.
Finally, i do not think i could have run up there one more time, growled MAJOr complaining, but in truth he had probably ran faster than people half his age. The trumpets sounded and WXD had won, but no one dared to cheer just yet. They all turned to the strategist to hear what he had to say.

Well done everyone, ale on me tonight, let us celebrate. Loud cheers followed his words, but as he turned to join them, he felt eyes digging on his back and he turned.
Are they really ready? Azuraz asked bluntly.
Are we ever? He replied with a wry smile. But I trust them, he said and smiled.
And somehow, so do I, she said and they went to join them in the boisterous celebrations.
